Abstract

The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for processing chroma sampled pictures. An exemplary video processing method includes: determining whether a chroma component is included in a sequence of frames; and in response to a determination that the chroma component is included in the sequence, activating a sub-process for processing the sequence, wherein the sub-process comprises one or more of joint coding for chroma residues (JCCR), block differential pulse coded modulation (BDPCM), palette mode, or adaptive color transform (ACT).

Claims (51)

1 . A video processing method, comprising:

determining, based on a chroma format, whether a sub-process is enabled, wherein the sub-process is a joint coding for chroma residues (JCCR) sub-process or an adaptive color transform (ACT) sub-process, wherein the sub-process is:

enabled in response to the chroma format indicating that a chroma component is included in a sequence of frames, and

disabled in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component is not included in the sequence.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the chroma component is determined whether to be included in the sequence based on a separate color plane flag.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the chroma format comprises any one of: a monochrome type, a 4:2:0 sampling type, a 4:2:2 sampling type, or a 4:4:4 sampling type.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

encoding one or more pictures of the sequence of frames based on the chroma format.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the encoding comprises:

determining, based on the chroma format, a sub-process enabled flag to indicate whether the sub-process for processing the sequence is enabled, wherein:

the sub-process enabled flag is set to zero in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component not being included in the sequence; and

the sub-process enabled flag is set to one in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component being included in the sequence, wherein the sub-process enabled flag being set to one indicates that the sub-process for processing the sequence is enabled.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the sub-process enabled flag comprises a JCCR sub-process enable flag that is determined based on:

determining, for the JCCR sub-process, whether the chroma format is the monochrome type; and

in response to the chroma format being the monochrome type, setting the JCCR sub-process enable flag to zero.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the sub-process enabled flag comprises an ACT sub-process enable flag that is determined based on:

determining, for the ACT sub-process, whether the chroma format is the 4:4:4 sampling type; and

in response to the chroma format being the 4:4:4 sampling type, setting the ACT sub-process enable flag to one.

8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the sub-process further comprises a palette mode sub-process, and the sub-process enabled flag comprises a palette mode enable flag that is determined based on:

determining, for the palette mode sub-process, whether the chroma format is one the monochrome type, the 4:2:0 sampling type, the 4:2:2 sampling type, or the 4:4:4 sampling type; and

in response to the chroma format being one of the monochrome type, the 4:2:0 sampling type, the 4:2:2 sampling type, or the 4:4:4 sampling type, setting the palette mode sub-process enable flag to one.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a bitstream associated with the sequence of frames; and

decoding, using coded information of the bitstream, one or more pictures based on the chroma format.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the decoding comprises:

skipping the sub-process in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component is not included in the sequence.

11 . A video processing apparatus, comprising:

at least one memory for storing instructions; and

at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to cause the apparatus to perform:

determining, based on a chroma format, whether a sub-process is enabled, wherein the sub-process is a joint coding for chroma residues (JCCR) sub-process or an adaptive color transform (ACT) sub-process, wherein the sub-process is:

enabled in response to the chroma format indicating that a chroma component is included in a sequence of frames, and

disabled in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component is not included in the sequence.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the chroma component is determined whether to be included in the sequence based on a separate color plane flag.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the chroma format comprises any one of: a monochrome type, a 4:2:0 sampling type, a 4:2:2 sampling type, or a 4:4:4 sampling type.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to cause the apparatus to perform:

encoding one or more pictures of the sequence of frames based on the chroma format.

15 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the encoding comprises:

determining, based on the chroma format, a sub-process enabled flag to indicate whether the sub-process for processing the sequence is enabled, wherein:

the sub-process enabled flag is set to zero in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component not being included in the sequence; and

the sub-process enabled flag is set to one in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component being included in the sequence, wherein the sub-process enabled flag being set to one indicates that the sub-process for processing the sequence is enabled.

16 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to cause the apparatus to perform:

receiving a bitstream associated with the sequence of frames; and

decoding, using coded information of the bitstream, one or more pictures based on the chroma format.

17 . The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the decoding comprises:

skipping the sub-process in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component is not included in the sequence.

18 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a bitstream of a video for processing according to operations comprising:

determining, based on a chroma format, whether a sub-process is enabled, wherein the sub-process is a joint coding for chroma residues (JCCR) sub-process or an adaptive color transform (ACT) sub-process, wherein the sub-process is:

enabled in response to the chroma format indicating that a chroma component is included in a sequence of frames, and

disabled in response to the chroma format indicating that the chroma component is not included in the sequence.

19 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of 16 , wherein the chroma component is determined whether to be included in the sequence based on a separate color plane flag.

20 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of 17 , wherein the chroma format comprises any one of: a monochrome type, a 4:2:0 sampling type, a 4:2:2 sampling type, or a 4:4:4 sampling type.
