Abstract

A device providing ocular photo-bio-stimulation therapy.

Claims (29)

1. A device for providing extended reality or modified reality comprising a light source providing light to stimulate a retina of an eye of a user of the device, wherein the light is chosen to result in a physiological response in the eye of the user or a body of the user, wherein the device further comprises a processor configured with programmable instructions operative to allow the user with a same eye to see two images, a first moving image and a second image, such that the first image moves relative to the second image, wherein the movement of the first image is controlled by the processor configured with programmable instructions operative to cause the first image to move, wherein movement of the first image causes the eye of the user to move while a central portion of the retina of the eye of the user fixates on the first image, wherein a color or lack of color of the first image differs compared to a color of the second image, wherein the device projects the second image having light wavelengths that account for over 50% of light transmission from the light source that paints the retina of the user within a wavelength range of 600 nm-700 nm, wherein the second image is projected having wavelengths within a range of 650 nm+/−10 nm, wherein as the user fixates on the moving first image with the user's same eye, the second image paints light wavelengths within the wavelength range of 600 nm-700 nm across or on different areas of a peripheral retina or central retina of the user's same eye, and wherein the eye of the user fixates on the first image as the first image moves relative to the second image.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first moving image is a virtual image.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the second image is a real image.

4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first moving image is a real image.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the second image is a virtual image.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first moving image and the second image are virtual images.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device is one or more of augmented reality eyewear, mixed reality eyewear, virtual reality eyewear, or modified reality eyewear.

8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device comprises a see-through near eye display.

9. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device comprises a non-see-through near eye display.

10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device is an extended reality (XR) device comprising an electronic display comprised of a plurality of pixels.

11. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a waveguide.

12. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a microlens array.

13. The device of claim 1 , wherein light of the first moving image is one or more of defocused light, diffused light, focused light, filtered light, or scattered light.

14. The device of claim 1 , wherein light of the second image is one or more of defocused light, diffused light, focused light, filtered light, or scattered light.

15. The device of claim 1 , wherein the second image is moving.

16. The device of claim 1 , wherein the second image is stationary/non-moving.

17. The device of claim 1 , wherein the second image is black or grey.

18. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first moving image and/or the second image is generated with light from one or more of the following light emitters: light-emitting diodes (LEDs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), transparent organic light-emitting diodes, micro-OLEDs, micro-LEDs, ionic liquids for electrochemical devices (iLEDs), micro-iLEDS, quantum dots, florescent lights, ambient light, incandescent lights, or an electronic display.

19. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a filter or filters, wherein light generating the first moving image and/or the second image is filtered by the filter or filters, and wherein the filter or filters is one or more of: a bandpass filter, an interference filter, an absorption filter, a selective wavelengths filter, a notch filter, or a neutral density filter.

20. The device of claim 1 , wherein the physiological response is one or more of improved mitochondrial function and reduction of age-related inflammation in the eye of the user.

21. The device of claim 1 , wherein the physiological response is a generation of additional neurochemicals in a brain of the user.

22. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first moving image and second image modulate within a range of 5 Hz and 15 Hz or 40 Hz+/−20 Hz.

23. The device of claim 1 , wherein illumination from the device generates a virtual image for the user of the device having a light intensity within a range of 300 lux-20,000 lux.

24. The device of claim 1 , wherein movement of the first moving image relative to the second image is one of: continuous, intermittent, or periodic.

25. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device further comprises one or more of: a timer, an alarm, wireless communication, an eye location sensor, a retinal location sensor, a corneal location sensor, an iris location sensor, a controller, a computer processing unit, a rechargeable battery, one or more biofeedback sensors, a vision system, or eye tracking.

26. The device of claim 1 , further comprising sensors for measuring blink rate and/or pupil diameter of the user of the device.

27. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device is wired or wireless to a user's cellular phone or other computing device.

28. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device emits to the retina of the eye of the user the first moving image, the second image, or both, through a lens or optic that spreads the light over an area of the retina.

29. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device emits to the retina of the eye of the user the first moving image, the second image, or both, through one or more of: a lens, an optic, a filter, a refractive lens, an electroactive lens, or combinations thereof.
