Abstract

A three-dimensional (3D) printing build material composition includes polyamide-12 particles, solid glass beads, and glass fibers having an average aspect ratio ranging from about 12:1 to about 20:1 and an average length ranging from about 200 pm to less than 300 pm. The polyamide-12 particles are present in an amount of at least 55 wt % based on a total weight of the build material composition. The solid glass beads are present in an amount ranging from about 5 wt % to less than 15 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition. The glass fibers are present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition.

glass fibers having an average aspect ratio ranging from about 12:1 to about 20:1 and an average length ranging from about 200 μm to less than 300 μm, the glass fibers being present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition.

2 . The 3D printing build material composition as defined in claim 1 , wherein:

the average length of the glass fibers ranges from about 200 μm to about 250 μm; and

an average width of the glass fibers ranges from about 12 μm to about 16 μm.

3 . The 3D printing build material composition as defined in claim 2 , wherein an average aspect ratio of the glass fibers is about 14:1.

4 . The 3D printing build material composition as defined in claim 1 , wherein each of the glass fibers has a silanized surface.

5 . The 3D printing build material composition as defined in claim 1 , wherein the solid glass beads have an average particle size ranging from about 20 μm to about 35 μm.

6 . The 3D printing build material composition as defined in claim 1 , further comprising a flow aid present in an amount up to 0.2 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition.

7 . A kit for three-dimensional (3D) printing, comprising:

a build material composition, including:

polyamide-12 particles present in an amount of at least 55 wt % based on a total weight of the build material composition;

solid glass beads present in an amount ranging from about 5 wt % to less than 15 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition; and

glass fibers having an average aspect ratio ranging from about 12:1 to about 20:1 and an average length ranging from about 200 μm to less than 300 μm, the glass fibers being present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition; and

a fusing agent to be applied to at least a portion of the build material composition during 3D printing, the fusing agent including an energy absorber to absorb energy to melt or fuse the build material composition in the at least the portion.

8 . The kit as defined in claim 7 , wherein:

the average length of the glass fibers ranges from about 200 μm to about 250 μm;

an average width of the glass fibers ranges from about 12 μm to about 16 μm; and

the solid glass beads have an average particle size ranging from about 20 μm to about 35 μm.

9 . The kit as defined in claim 7 , wherein an average aspect ratio of the glass fibers is about 14:1.

10 . The kit as defined in claim 7 , wherein each of the glass fibers has a silanized surface.

11 . A three-dimensional (3D) printing method, comprising:

spreading a build material composition to form a build material layer, the build material composition including:

polyamide-12 particles present in an amount of at least 55 wt % based on a total weight of the build material composition;

solid glass beads present in an amount ranging from about 5 wt % to less than 15 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition; and

glass fibers having an average aspect ratio ranging from about 12:1 to about 20:1 and an average length ranging from about 200 μm to less than 300 μm, the glass fibers being present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % based on the total weight of the build material composition;

based on a 3D object model, selectively applying a fusing agent on at least a portion of the build material layer; and

exposing the build material layer to electromagnetic radiation to coalesce the build material composition in the at least the portion, thereby forming a layer of a 3D object.

12 . The method as defined in claim 11 , wherein prior to spreading, the method further comprises applying the build material composition to a build area platform having an X-Y plane.

13 . The method as defined in claim 12 , wherein:

the spreading is performed in a Y-direction of the X-Y plane; and

the selectively applying is performed in the X-direction of the X-Y plane.

14 . The method as defined in claim 11 , wherein

the average length of the glass fibers ranges from about 200 μm to about 250 μm;

an average width of the glass fibers ranges from about 12 μm to about 16 μm; and
