Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices may manage multi-user sessions in edge data networks. Edge devices may be configured to enable and operate different types of multi-user sessions.

Claims (37)

1 . A method performed by a first edge enabler server (EES), the method comprising:

receiving a first request to establish a multi-user session between a first application client (AC) and a second AC, wherein the first request comprises multi-user session information;

establishing the multi-user session between the first AC and the second AC, wherein establishing the multi-user session comprises sending one or more requests to different edge application servers (EASs), wherein the different EASs comprises a first EAS and a second EAS;

receiving one or more responses from the different EASs, wherein the one or more responses comprises one or more indications of whether the different EASs agree to provide a multi-user session service to the first AC and the second AC;

based on the one or more responses from the different EASs, determining whether the multi-user session has been established; and

sending a first response to the first request, wherein the first response comprises an indication that the multi-user session has been established between the first AC and the second AC.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first request is received from an edge enabler client (EEC) or a third EAS.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises one or more AC identifiers.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises a connection bandwidth.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises a request rate.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises a scheduled communication time.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a network slice management function to synchronize network slices used by the first AC or the second AC for communication with respective EASs.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a QoS configuration function to synchronize QoS settings of network connections used by the first AC or the second AC when communicating with respective EASs.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a communication pattern configuration function to synchronize scheduled communication times when the first AC or the second AC communicates with their respective EASs.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the different EASs support a same type of service.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a second EES to synchronize multi-user session operations performed by the first EES and the second EES, wherein the one or more requests to the second EES comprises multi-user session information.

12 . An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled with the processor, the memory storing executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to effectuate operations to:

receiving a first request to establish a multi-user session between a first application client (AC) and a second AC, wherein the first request comprises multi-user session information;

establishing the multi-user session between the first AC and the second AC, wherein establishing the multi-user session comprises sending one or more requests to different edge application servers (EASs), wherein the different EASs comprises a first EAS and a second EAS;

receiving one or more responses from the different EASs, wherein the one or more responses comprises one or more indications of whether the different EASs agree to provide a multi-user session service to the first AC and the second AC;

based on the one or more responses from the different EASs, determining whether the multi-user session has been established; and

sending a first response to the first request, wherein the first response comprises an indication that the multi-user session has been established between the first AC and the second AC.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the first request is received from an edge enabler client (EEC) or a third EAS.

14 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises one or more AC identifiers or a connection bandwidth.

15 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises a request rate or a scheduled communication time.

16 . The apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a network slice management function to synchronize network slices used by the first AC or the second AC for communication with respective EASs.

17 . The apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a quality of service (QoS) configuration function to synchronize QoS settings of network connections used by the first AC or the second AC when communicating with respective EASs.

18 . The apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising sending one or more requests to a communication pattern configuration function to synchronize scheduled communication times when the first AC or the second AC communicates with their respective EASs.

19 . A computer readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions that when executed by a computing device cause the computing device to effectuate operations comprising:

receiving a first request to establish a multi-user session between a first application client (AC) and a second AC, wherein the first request comprises multi-user session information;

establishing the multi-user session between the first AC and the second AC, wherein establishing the multi-user session comprises sending one or more requests to different edge application servers (EASs), wherein the different EASs comprises a first EAS and a second EAS;

receiving one or more responses from the different EASs, wherein the one or more responses comprises one or more indications of whether the different EASs agree to provide a multi-user session service to the first AC and the second AC;

based on the one or more responses from the different EASs, determining whether the multi-user session has been established; and

sending a first response to the first request, wherein the first response comprises an indication that the multi-user session has been established between the first AC and the second AC.

20 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 19 , wherein the multi-user session information comprises one or more AC identifiers, a connection bandwidth, a request rate, or a scheduled communication time.
