Abstract

Devices are disclosed for home based electric vehicle (EV) charging. In one embodiment, a programmatic method includes receiving a first notification indicative of a first electrical coupling of an EV to an EV charger located at a first physical address. Upon receiving the first notification, the programmatic method further includes providing to a first display a first plurality of content options. The first display is co-located with the EV charger and the first plurality of content options are indicative of a first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to a second display. The programmatic method further includes receiving a second notification indicative of a first selection of the first plurality of content options by a user of the EV charger and storing the first selection in a memory.

Claims (64)

1 . A programmatic method comprising:

receiving a first notification indicative of a first electrical coupling of an electric vehicle (EV) to an EV charger located at a first physical address;

upon receiving the first notification, providing to a first display a first plurality of content options, wherein:

the first display is co-located with the EV charger;

the first plurality of content options are indicative of a first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to a second display;

receiving a second notification indicative of a first selection of the first plurality of content options by a user of the EV charger; and

storing the first selection in a memory.

2 . The programmatic method of claim 1 , wherein:

the EV charger comprises the first display;

the EV charger is a home-based EV charger; and

the first physical address is a residential address.

3 . The programmatic method of claim 1 , wherein the second display is associated with a multimedia client device distinct from the first display.

4 . The programmatic method of claim 1 further comprising providing a first multimedia content stream to the second display based on the first selection of the first plurality of content options.

5 . The programmatic method of claim 4 , wherein providing the first multimedia content stream to the second display is used to determine an offset cost associated with the EV charger.

6 . The programmatic method of claim 4 further comprising:

receiving a third notification indicative of a first electrical decoupling of the EV from the EV charger located at the first physical address;

providing to the first display a plurality of review options associated with the first multimedia content stream;

receiving a fourth notification indicative of a second selection of the plurality of review options by the user of the EV charger; and

storing the second selection in the memory.

7 . The programmatic method of claim 6 , wherein the second selection is used to determine an offset cost associated with the EV charger.

8 . The programmatic method of claim 6 further comprising:

receiving a fifth notification indicative of a second electrical coupling of the EV to the EV charger;

upon receiving the fifth notification, providing to the first display a second plurality of content options, wherein:

the second plurality of content options are indicative of a second plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to the second display;

receiving a sixth notification indicative of a third selection of the second plurality of content options by the user of the EV charger; and

storing the third selection in the memory.

9 . The programmatic method of claim 8 further comprising providing a second multimedia content stream to the second display based on the third selection of the second plurality of content options.

10 . The programmatic method of claim 4 , wherein the first multimedia content stream is provided by the EV charger.

11 . The programmatic method of claim 10 wherein:

the EV charger is a bidirectional EV charger configured to provide backup power to the first physical address while the EV is electrically coupled with the EV charger; and

the first multimedia content stream is provided by the EV charger during a power failure at the first physical address.

12 . The programmatic method of claim 11 , wherein:

the EV charger comprises a streaming server; and

the first multimedia content stream is pre-stored on the streaming server.

13 . The programmatic method of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of content options is further indicative of a first plurality of start times for the first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to the second display.

14 . The programmatic method of claim 1 further comprising:

upon receiving the second notification, providing to the first display a first plurality of start times for the first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to the second display;

receiving a third notification indicative of a second selection of the first plurality of start times; and

storing the second selection in the memory.

15 . The programmatic method of claim 1 , wherein:

the first plurality of content options is based on a profile; and

the programmatic method further comprises updating the profile based on the first selection.

16 . The programmatic method of claim 15 , wherein the profile includes user information provided by the user.

17 . The programmatic method of claim 16 , wherein the user information comprises user survey information.

18 . The programmatic method of claim 16 , wherein:

the user information includes user purchasing information;

the user purchasing information includes user home ownership information; and

the user home ownership information includes the first physical address.

19 . A computing device comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor configured for:

receiving a first notification indicative of a first electrical coupling of an electric vehicle (EV) to an EV charger located at a first physical address;

upon receiving the first notification, providing to a first display a first plurality of content options, wherein:

the first display is co-located with the EV charger;

the first plurality of content options are indicative of a first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to a second display;

receiving a second notification indicative of a first selection of the first plurality of content options by a user of the EV charger; and

storing the first selection in the memory.

20 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions to be implemented on at least one computing device including at least one processor, the instructions when executed by the at least one processor cause the at least one computing device to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving a first notification indicative of a first electrical coupling of an electric vehicle (EV) to an EV charger located at a first physical address;

upon receiving the first notification, providing to a first display a first plurality of content options, wherein:

the first display is co-located with the EV charger;

the first plurality of content options are indicative of a first plurality of multimedia content streams to be provided to a second display;

receiving a second notification indicative of a first selection of the first plurality of content options by a user of the EV charger; and

storing the first selection in a memory.
