Abstract

Systems and methods for monitoring assisting an individual to reduce smoking of a combustible tobacco and use of a non-combustible nicotine source to offset the reduction of nicotine from the reduction of smoking of the combustible tobacco.

Claims (53)

1 . A method for assisting an individual to cease smoking of combustible tobacco, the method comprising:

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual through an electronic user interface;

producing a quantified smoking exposure of the individual using the plurality of biologic data, where the quantified smoking exposure comprises the individual's use of combustible tobacco;

displaying the quantified smoking exposure to the individual through the electronic user interface prompting the individual to reduce the use of the combustible tobacco and to increase the use of a non-combustible nicotine source, such that the non-combustible nicotine source at least partially offsets a reduced nicotine level in the individual resulting from reduced use of the combustible tobacco;

compiling a behavior summary, where the behavior summary includes a history of the quantified smoking exposure as a result of the use of the combustible tobacco with the non-combustible nicotine source; and

periodically displaying the behavior summary to the individual using the electronic user interface.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein prompting the individual occurs through the electronic user interface.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the behavior summary includes the history of the smoking exposure before and after prompting the individual to reduce the use of the combustible tobacco.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising prompting the individual through the electronic user interface to confirm use of the non-combustible nicotine source.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising continuing to prompt the individual to reduce the smoking exposure and increase use of the non-combustible nicotine source over a period of time.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein prompting the individual to reduce the smoking exposure and increase use of the non-combustible nicotine source occurs instantaneously.

7 . The method of claim 1 , where the non-combustible nicotine source comprises a source selected from a group comprising a nicotine patch, nicotine gum, nicotine lozenge, a nicotine ingestible, an oral nicotine pouch, and an electronic nicotine delivery system.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising recording a plurality of behavioral data from the individual using the electronic user interface.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein compiling the behavior summary includes at least one of the plurality of behavioral data.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of biologic data includes data indicative of a smoking behavior.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of biologic data includes an exhaled carbon monoxide data measurement.

12 . The method of claim 1 , where prompting the individual to reduce the use of the combustible tobacco with the non-combustible nicotine source includes providing the non-combustible nicotine source to the individual.

13 . The method of claim 1 , where prompting the individual to reduce the use of the combustible tobacco with the non-combustible nicotine source includes prompting the individual with a plan to transition to the non-combustible nicotine source.

14 . A method for encouraging combustible smoking cessation in an individual, the method comprising:

recording a plurality of behavioral data from the individual;

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual that includes use of a non-combustible nicotine supply and a smoking behavior;

compiling a behavior summary, where the behavior summary includes a combination of at least one of the plurality of behavioral data and the plurality of biologic data;

visually displaying at least a portion of the behavior summary to the individual to inform the individual about the smoking behavior; and

prompting the individual to reduce the smoking behavior and increase usage of non-combustible nicotine supply.

15 . A method for encouraging combustible smoking cessation in an individual, the method comprising:

electronically recording a plurality of behavioral data from the individual;

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual;

quantifying a smoking exposure of the individual using the plurality of biologic data;

conducting a smoking cessation process on an electronic display by compiling a behavior summary, where the behavior summary includes a combination of at least one of the plurality of behavioral data and the smoking exposure and displaying on the electronic display at least a portion of the behavior summary to the individual to inform the individual about the smoking behavior; and

prompting the individual through the electronic display to use a non-combustible nicotine source.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein prompting the individual through the electronic display to use the non-combustible nicotine source occurs during the smoking cessation process.

17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein prompting the individual through the electronic display to use the non-combustible nicotine source occurs after ending the smoking cessation process.

18 . A method of assisting an individual to stop a smoking behavior, the method comprising:

recording a plurality of behavioral data supplied by the individual where the plurality of behavioral data is non-biologic;

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual, where the plurality of biologic data is representative of a smoking exposure;

conducting a smoking cessation process on an electronic display by compiling a behavior summary, where the behavior summary includes an association of at least one of the plurality of behavioral data and the smoking exposure; and

providing at least a portion of the behavior summary to a user interface on the electronic display, where the user interface is structured to display at least one of the plurality of behavioral data in association with the smoking exposure.

19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising prompting the individual through the electronic display to use a non-combustible nicotine source.

20 . A method for encouraging combustible smoking cessation in an individual, the method comprising:

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual;

quantifying a smoking exposure of the individual using the plurality of biologic data;

prompting the individual to use a non-combustible nicotine supply;

compiling a nicotine behavior summary, where the nicotine behavior summary includes a combination of the smoking exposure and a nicotine usage;

electronically displaying the nicotine behavior summary to the individual; and

prompting the individual to reduce the smoking exposure and increase the nicotine usage.

21 . A method for encouraging combustible smoking cessation in an individual, the method comprising:

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual; and

conducting a smoking cessation process by generating a behavior summary based on the plurality of biologic data and visually displaying at least a portion of the behavior summary to the individual to inform the individual about a smoking behavior, where the behavior summary includes a smoking exposure of the individual.

22 . A method for encouraging switching an individual from a combustible nicotine source to a non-combustible nicotine source, the method comprising:

obtaining a plurality of biologic data from the individual; and

conducting a switching process by generating a behavior summary based on the plurality of biologic data and visually displaying at least a portion of the behavior summary to the individual to inform the individual about a smoking behavior, where the behavior summary includes a smoking exposure of the individual.

23 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the plurality of biologic data includes an exhaled carbon monoxide data measurement.

24 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the combustible nicotine source is one of a cigarette, cigar, marijuana or pipe tobacco.
