Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for an eyewear accommodating headset with adaptive and variable ear support. An example headset may comprise an ear cup with two or more distinct sections that differ in one or more characteristics. A first section is adaptively configured to accommodate a temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of the headset, and a second section is configured to maintain contact with a temple of the wearer of the headset. The different sections may comprise different foams (or different parts of foam, each with different characteristics). The characteristics may comprise hardness and/or density. Another example headset may comprise an ear cup with a divot that accommodates the temple piece of the eyeglasses.

21 . A system comprising:

an ear cup that comprises a foam cushion and a hollow area, wherein:

the ear cup is configured to allow a portion of the foam cushion to be pushed to produce a divot; and

the hollow area is configured to receive the portion of the foam cushion.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system comprises a headset that comprises the ear cup.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein a the foam cushion is in the form of a ring.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the foam cushion is covered by a lining.

25 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the lining is configured to provide heat transfer.

26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the ear cup is attachable to a headset.

27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the foam cushion comprises at least two different densities of foam.

28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the ear cup comprises:

a material configured to reduce heat build-up at a headset user's head; and

a material configured to wick moisture away from the headset user's head.

29 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the portion of the foam cushion that is pushed is configured to be closer to a temple of a headset user than the hollow area.

30 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the foam cushion comprises a first foam glued to a second foam.

31 . A headset comprising:

an ear cup that comprises a foam cushion and a hollow area, wherein:

the ear cup is configured to allow a portion of the foam cushion to be pushed to produce a divot; and

the hollow area is configured to receive the portion of the foam cushion.

32 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the headset comprises two ear cups.

33 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the foam cushion is in the form of a ring.

34 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the foam cushion is covered by a lining.

35 . The headset of claim 34 , wherein the lining is configured to provide heat transfer.

36 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the ear cup is attachable to the headset.

37 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the ear cup comprises at least two different densities of foam.

38 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the ear cup comprises:

a material configured to reduce heat build-up at a headset user's head; and

a material configured to wick moisture away from the headset user's head.

39 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the portion of the foam cushion that is pushed is configured to be closer to a temple of a headset user than the hollow area.

40 . The headset of claim 31 , wherein the foam cushion comprises a first foam glued to a second foam.
