Abstract

Systems, controllers and methods for contextual-based searching are provided. A system includes one or more devices configured to collect at least one audio stream and a contextual search system. The contextual search system includes a data analyzer and a search engine. The data analyzer is configured to receive the at least one audio stream from among the one or more devices and to determine contextual information from the received at least one audio stream. The search engine is configured to perform a search of at least one search term using the contextual information, to produce a search result. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Claims (33)

1 . A device to perform a search, comprising:

an environmental sensor;

a microphone; and

one or more processors configured to:

receive environmental information from the environmental sensor relating to a surrounding environment of the device,

receive acoustic information from an audio stream collected from the microphone; and

present a search result obtained from a search request generated based on the environmental information and the acoustic information.

2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the device includes an earpiece.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the microphone is an internal microphone of the earpiece to be located in an ear canal.

4 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the microphone is an external microphone of the earpiece utilized to sample an external sound field in the surrounding environment.

5 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the search result is presented via a speaker of the earpiece.

6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the environmental information includes an image or video of the surrounding environment.

7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the search request is refined based on a history of a user.

8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the device enables an opt-in for data acquisition.

9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the environmental information is obtained during a predetermined time leading up to the search request.

10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the search result is obtained in response to a search request trigger comprising a predetermined key word.

11 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to provide a summary of activities including search information generated during a day.

12 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to, responsive to the search result, collect a further audio stream.

13 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to use machine learning to identify features from the audio stream.

14 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to highlight a portion of the audio stream based on a voice activation.

15 . A method for performing a search, comprising:

receiving environmental information from an environmental sensor of a device relating to a surrounding environment of the device,

receiving acoustic information from an audio stream collected from a microphone of the device; and

presenting a search result obtained from a search request generated based on the environmental information and the acoustic information.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the device includes an earpiece, and wherein the microphone is an internal microphone or an external microphone of the earpiece.

17 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

providing a summary of a day's activities including search information generated during a day based on search results.

18 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

collecting a further audio stream responsive to the search result.

19 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

utilizing machine learning to identify features from the audio stream.

20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

highlighting a portion of the audio stream based on a voice activation from a user.
