Claims (32)

1 . An article for temperature-conditioning a surface comprising:

a first layer coupled to a second layer defining an interior chamber therebetween; and

a plurality of openings extending through the first layer and the second layer, wherein the plurality of openings defines a shape of the interior chamber, and wherein the first layer and the second layer are coupled to one another along a periphery of the article and a periphery of each of the plurality of openings;

wherein the interior chamber is constructed and operative to receive a fluid at a flow entrance via a fluid supply line and retain the fluid as it moves through the interior chamber to exit the interior chamber via a flow exit to a fluid return line,

wherein the plurality of openings are arranged to direct the movement of the fluid in the article, and

wherein the fluid does not move through the plurality of openings.

2 . The article of claim 1 , the article further comprising a first panel extending from a first edge of the article and a second panel extending from a second edge of the article.

3 . The article of claim 2 , wherein the first edge is on an opposite side of the article from the second edge.

4 . The article of claim 3 , wherein the first panel and the second panel are operable to fold to secure attachment of the article to a mattress and/or bed.

5 . The article of claim 1 , wherein the interior chamber is configured to retain a fluid without leaking.

6 . The article of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of openings comprises at least 15% of a surface area of the article.

7 . The article of claim 1 , wherein each opening of the plurality of openings is a shape.

8 . The article of claim 7 , wherein the shape is one or more of a hexagon, a triangle, a circle, a rectangle, a square, an oval, a diamond, a pentagon, a heptagon, an octagon, a nonagon, a decagon, a trapezium, a parallelogram, a rhombus, a cross, a semicircle, a crescent, a heart, a star, and a snowflake.

9 . A sleep system comprising:

an article for temperature-conditioning a surface comprising:

a first layer coupled to a second layer defining an interior chamber therebetween; and

a plurality of openings extending through the first layer and the second layer, wherein the plurality of openings defines a shape of the interior chamber, and wherein the first layer and the second layer are coupled to one another along a periphery of the article and a periphery of each of the plurality of openings,

wherein the interior chamber is constructed and operative to receive a fluid at a flow entrance via a fluid supply line and retain the fluid as it moves through the interior chamber to exit the interior chamber via a flow exit to a fluid return line,

wherein the plurality of openings are arranged to direct the movement of the fluid in the article, and

wherein the fluid does not move flow through the plurality of openings; and

the sleep system further comprising at least one control unit in fluidic communication with the article, the at least one control unit including a housing containing a fluid reservoir, a heat exchanger and a pump forming a fluid circuit, such that, when fluidly coupled to the fluid supply line and the fluid return line, the control unit is operative to selectively cool or heat a fluid and deliver the fluid to the article.

10 . The sleep system of claim 9 , the article further comprising a first panel extending from a first edge of the article and a second panel extending from a second edge of the article.

11 . The sleep system of claim 10 , wherein the first edge is on an opposite side of the article from the second edge.

12 . The sleep system of claim 11 , wherein the first panel and the second panel are operable to fold to secure attachment of the article to a mattress and/or bed.

13 . The sleep system of claim 9 , wherein the interior chamber is configured to retain a fluid without leaking.

14 . The sleep system of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of openings comprises at least 15% of a surface area of the article.

15 . The sleep system of claim 9 , wherein each opening of the plurality of openings is a shape.

16 . The sleep system of claim 15 , wherein the shape is one or more of a hexagon, a triangle, a circle, a rectangle, a square, an oval, a diamond, a pentagon, a heptagon, an octagon, a nonagon, a decagon, a trapezium, a parallelogram, a rhombus, a cross, a semicircle, a crescent, a heart, a star, and a snowflake.

17 . The sleep system of claim 9 , further comprising at least one remote device.

18 . The sleep system of claim 17 , wherein the at least one remote device is operable to transmit parameters to the at least one control unit to modify a temperature of the surface.

19 . The sleep system of claim 9 , wherein an exterior surface of the first layer and/or the second layer includes a thermally reflective and/or an insulating material.

20 . The sleep system of claim 19 , wherein the thermally reflective and/or the insulating material includes lyocell.
