Abstract

Apparatuses and methods concerning providing data-communications room recommendations are disclosed. As an example, one apparatus includes a data-communications server. The data-communications server is configured to provide user-data-communications sessions. The server is also configured to retrieve data-communications messages, which may arise from a plurality of disparate interconnected data-communications systems, and batch the data communications messages for a particular data-communications room together to create a room document. Responding to receipt of a request from a particular user, the server identifies a particular data-communications room for a particular inquiry.

Claims (29)

1 . A computer-implemented method for use with a data-communications system, including at least one server that is to facilitate user-data-communications sessions involving user endpoint devices that include a client-specific endpoint device associated with a client entity from among a plurality of client entities and another participating endpoint device, the computer-implemented method comprising:

retrieving information concerning data communications messages involving one or more client-specific endpoint devices, which are operable on behalf of the client entity, and the other participating endpoint device; and

identifying or predicting a particular data-communications room among a plurality of data-communications rooms for a particular inquiry, wherein the particular data-communications room is associated with a room document linked to the data communications messages being batched and each of multiple ones of the plurality of data-communications rooms has a different set of one or more content-related characteristics in common, said identifying being based on:

certain of the data communications messages from the room document, which do not have a set of one or more common content-related characteristics, being filtered out, and

a comparison of the room document for the particular data-communications room and a request from a particular user.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering out said certain of the data communications messages from the room document, where the difference between a first one and a last one of the data communications messages is indicated as being less than a threshold number of days.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering out said certain of the data communications messages from the room document, where the difference between a first one and a last one of the data communications messages is indicated as being for a particular event.

4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering out said certain of the data communications messages from the room document, where the difference between a first one and a last one of the data communications messages is indicated as being without a specified group of one or more content-related characteristics which are other than those in the set of one or more content-related characteristics.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the data communications messages correspond to a set of historical data limited by a certain time period, at least part of which is indicated by the request from the particular user.

6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said identifying or predicting a particular data-communications room is further based on one or more topics linked to the request.

7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said identifying or predicting a particular data-communications room is further based on one or more issues linked to the request.

8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said identifying or predicting a particular data-communications room is further based on subject matter expert linked to the request.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering out data-communications rooms or individual users of one or more of the data-communications rooms with fewer than a threshold number of messages.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering out, based on a particular event, information associated with one or more of the data-communications rooms.

11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising providing data-communications services, via the data-communications system, to each of the plurality of client entities, wherein said identifying or predicting the particular data-communications room is part of at least one of the data-communications services.

12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the content-related characteristics comprise at least one or more topics of discussion.

13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the content-related characteristics comprise at least one or more key words.

14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the content-related characteristics comprise at least one or more media characteristics.

15 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein for each of the plurality of data-communications rooms, there is a set of content-related characteristics which include room participant details corresponding to one or more of demographics, age, race, political affiliation, income, and location.

16 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further including generating the room document based on the data communications messages.

17 . A computer-implemented method for use with a data-communications system that facilitates user-data-communications sessions involving user endpoint devices that include a client-specific endpoint device associated with a client entity from among a plurality of client entities and another participating endpoint device, the computer-implemented method comprising:

retrieving characteristics-based classified information concerning data communications messages involving one or more client-specific endpoint devices, which are operable on behalf of the client entity, and the other participating endpoint device; and

predicting, based on certain of the data communications messages from the room document which do not have a set of one or more common content-related characteristics being filtered out and an assessment or comparison of the room document for a particular data-communications room and a request from a particular user, the particular data-communications room being from among a plurality of data-communications rooms for a particular inquiry and having a unique set of the characteristics-based classified information and is associated with a room document linked to the data communications messages being batched, and wherein each of multiple ones of the plurality of data-communications rooms has a different set of one or more content-related characteristics in common.

18 . A data-communications system comprising:

a set of one or more servers (“the server set”) to facilitate user-data-communications sessions involving user endpoint devices that include a client-specific endpoint device associated with a client entity from among a plurality of client entities and another participating endpoint device;

data-processing computer circuitry, communicatively integrated with the server set, to retrieve characteristics-based classified information concerning data communications messages involving one or more client-specific endpoint devices, which are operable on behalf of the client entity, and the other participating endpoint device; and

predicting, based on certain of the data communications messages from the room document which do not have a set of one or more common content-related characteristics being filtered out and an assessment or comparison of the room document for a particular data-communications room and a request from a particular user, the particular data-communications room being from among a plurality of data-communications rooms for a particular inquiry and having a unique set of the characteristics-based classified information and is associated with a room document linked to the data communications messages being batched, and wherein each of multiple ones of the plurality of data-communications rooms has a different set of one or more content-related characteristics in common.

19 . The data-communications system of claim 18 , wherein certain of the data communications messages are filtering out from the room document when the difference between a first one and a last one of the data communications messages is indicated as being less than a threshold number of days.

20 . The data-communications system of claim 18 , wherein certain of the data communications messages are filtering out from the room document when the difference between a first one and a last one of the data communications messages is indicated as being for a particular event.
