Claims (25)

1 - 47 . (canceled)

48 . An insertion device configured to insert a cannula in tissue comprising:

a housing;

an opening formed in a side of the housing and configured to removably receive a reusable part (RP) of a patch-pump drug delivery device;

and

an insertion mechanism configured to insert a cannula upon activation thereof.

49 . The device of claim 48 , further comprising a trigger for activating the insertion mechanism.

50 . The device of claim 48 , wherein upon the RP is configured to removably connect to a disposable part (DP) of the patch-pump drug delivery device.

51 . The device of claim 50 , wherein when the RP is received within the opening, and connects with the DP adhered to the skin of a user, the insertion mechanism can be activated to insert a cannula into and through the skin of the user.

52 . The device of claim 51 , further comprising a releasing mechanism configured to release the connected DP and RP after activation of the insertion mechanism.

53 . A reservoir flow system comprising:

a reservoir having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end configured with an opening for allowing fluid to exit the reservoir;

a plunger having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the distal end is in contact with a fluid contained in the reservoir and is configured to push fluid out of the reservoir via the opening;

a member integral with or connected to a proximal end of the plunger and including a lead screw opening for receiving and reversible connection with a tip of a lead screw;

and

a motor;

wherein:

the lead screw is driven by the motor upon the motor being activated when the reservoir flow system is called upon to cause fluid to exit the reservoir via the opening.

54 . A driving mechanism for an infusion device comprising:

a chassis including a base configured to align at least two of a pinion, an idler, and a rotating nut;

a pinion cover configured to hold the pinion in place; and

a bearing configured to provide free rotation of the rotating nut within the base,

wherein:

the idler pivots around an idler shaft; and

the lead screw includes a lead screw tip, a lead screw tail, a lead screw protrusion, and a lead screw opening.
