DRIVE ASSEMBLIES AND COMPRESSORS INCLUDING THE SAME
A compressor including a shell, a scroll assembly, and driveshaft. The scroll assembly includes an orbiting scroll including an orbiting spiral wrap and a second opening including a drive bearing disposed therein. The drive bearing is axial aligned with the orbiting spiral wrap. The compressor includes an unloader rotationally connected to the driveshaft body and rotationally supported with a primary bearing.
1 . A compressor comprising:
a shell;
a motor;
a scroll assembly positioned within the shell including a first axial side and a second axial side, the scroll assembly comprising:
a non-orbiting scroll including a non-orbiting spiral wrap, wherein the non-orbiting scroll includes a first opening; and
an orbiting scroll including an orbiting spiral wrap and a second opening having a drive bearing positioned therein, wherein the drive bearing is axially positioned in alignment with the orbiting spiral wrap;
a driveshaft including a driveshaft body and an eccentric body, the eccentric body positioned within the second opening and drivingly engaged with the drive bearing of the orbiting scroll, the motor operably connected to the driveshaft and positioned on the second axial side of the scroll assembly;
an upper housing bracket defining a bracket opening;
a primary bearing positioned within at least one of the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll and the upper housing bracket; and
an unloader rotationally connected to the driveshaft body and rotationally supported with the primary bearing.
2 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the driveshaft is positioned within the first opening, the second opening, and the bracket opening.
3 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the upper housing bracket is positioned on the second axial side of the scroll assembly.
4 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the upper housing bracket includes a bearing supporting driveshaft rotations.
5 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the orbiting scroll is positioned in axial alignment between the non-orbiting scroll and the upper housing bracket.
6 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the primary bearing is positioned within the opening of the upper housing bracket.
7 . The compressor of claim 6 , wherein a secondary bearing is positioned within the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll.
8 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the primary bearing is positioned within the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll.
9 . The compressor of claim 8 , wherein the compressor further comprises a seal positioned between the orbiting scroll and the upper housing bracket.
10 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the unloader is an annular unloader that surrounds the driveshaft.
11 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the driveshaft passes through the primary bearing such that a portion of the driveshaft is positioned on either axial side of the primary bearing.
12 . The compressor of claim 1 , wherein the motor includes a first axial side and a second axial side, and wherein the scroll assembly is positioned on the first axial side of the motor and wherein the compressor does not include a drive shaft bearing positioned on the second axial side of the motor.
13 . A compressor comprising:
a shell;
a scroll assembly positioned within the shell including a first axial side and a second axial side, the scroll assembly comprising:
a non-orbiting scroll including a non-orbiting spiral wrap, wherein the non-orbiting scroll includes a first opening; and
an orbiting scroll including an orbiting spiral wrap and a second opening having a drive bearing positioned therein, wherein the drive bearing is axially positioned in alignment with the orbiting spiral wrap;
a driveshaft including a driveshaft body and an eccentric body, the eccentric body positioned within the second opening and drivingly engaged with the drive bearing of the orbiting scroll;
an upper housing bracket defining a bracket opening;
a primary bearing positioned within at least one of the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll and the upper housing bracket; and
an unloader rotationally connected to the driveshaft body and rotationally supported with the primary bearing.
14 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the driveshaft is positioned within the first opening, the second opening, and the bracket opening.
15 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein the upper housing bracket is positioned on the second axial side of the scroll assembly.
16 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein the upper housing bracket includes a bearing supporting driveshaft rotations.
17 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein the orbiting scroll is positioned in axial alignment between the non-orbiting scroll and the upper housing bracket.
18 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein the primary bearing is positioned within the opening of the upper housing bracket.
19 . The compressor of claim 18 , wherein a secondary bearing is positioned within the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll.
20 . The compressor of claim 13 , wherein the primary bearing is positioned within the first opening of the non-orbiting scroll.
