SMARTER USER HANDLES FOR EXERCISE MACHINE
In response to physical connection of an exercise accessory with a portion of an exercise machine, an identifier of the portion of the exercise machine is received. A signal including the identifier of the portion of the exercise machine is transmitted.

2 . An exercise accessory, comprising:
a coupling component that facilitates engagement of the exercise accessory to an exercise appliance comprising an arm that guides a cable whose tension provides a resistance against which a user interacts; and
an embedded identification device comprising a unique identifier of the exercise accessory, wherein the exercise accessory is identified by the exercise appliance based at least in part on retrieving of the unique identifier upon interrogation by the exercise appliance.
3 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein the exercise accessory is associated with an account of the user.
4 . The exercise accessory of claim 3 , wherein based at least in part on connection of the exercise accessory to the exercise appliance, the user is automatically logged in.
5 . The exercise accessory of claim 3 , wherein based at least in part on connection of the exercise accessory to the exercise appliance, preferences of the user are automatically loaded.
6 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein the embedded identification device comprises an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) element.
7 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein the embedded identification device is molded into a handle assembly of the exercise accessory.
8 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein the embedded identification device is connected to an antenna structure.
9 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein the exercise appliance comprises an interrogating transceiver.
10 . The exercise accessory of claim 9 , wherein the interrogating transceiver is comprised in a coupling element attached to the cable guided by the arm.
11 . The exercise accessory of claim 9 , wherein an antenna for the interrogating transceiver is located at an end of the arm.
12 . The exercise accessory of claim 11 , wherein the transceiver radiates an interrogation field via the antenna, and wherein the exercise accessory is in proximity with the interrogation field when the exercise accessory is connected by the user.
13 . The exercise accessory of claim 2 , wherein identifying the exercise accessory includes requesting the user to interact with a control of the exercise accessory.
14 . The exercise accessory of claim 13 , wherein the control with which user interaction is requested is connected to the embedded identification device.
