Abstract

A system is configured to provide a dashboard creation system. Panels associated with queries for retrieving information from a database are shown in a user interface. Various other user interfaces show query code, panel display settings, function code, dependencies, etc. Queries in a first query format access a data source. Queries in a second query format access a cache database that is synchronized with the data source.

Claims (42)

1 . A computer system comprising:

one or more processors configured to execute code to cause the computer system to:

cause display of a first user interface including:

a first flex container;

a first panel within the first flex container; and

one or more options for configuring the first flex container;

receive a user input, via the one or more options, indicating a configuration of the first flex container, wherein the configuration includes at least one of: a position, a width, a height, a portion of a width, a portion of a height, an alignment, a justification, a wrapping, a split, or a distribution;

in response to receiving the user input, apply the configuration to the first flex container;

generate a user interface preview including the first panel; and

in response to a modification of a size of a window in which the user interface preview is displayed, modify a display of the first panel in accordance with the configuration of the first flex container.

2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first flex container comprises a flexible boundary within which one or more panels or other user interface elements can be arranged.

3 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the configuration is applied to the first flex container as a style or style sheet interpretable by a web browser.

4 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the modification of the display of the first panel includes at least one of: modifying a position of the first panel within the first flex container, or modifying a size of the first panel within the first flex container.

5 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the modification of the display of the first panel includes dynamically and proportionally resizing the first panel within the first flex container.

The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first user interface further includes a second panel within the first flex container, wherein the user interface preview further includes the second panel, and wherein one or more processors are configured to execute code to further cause the computer system to:

in response to the modification of the size of the window, modify a display of the second panel in accordance with the configuration of the first flex container.

7 . The computer system of claim 6 , wherein the modification of the display of the second panel includes modifying a position of the second panel, relative to a position of the first panel, within the first flex container.

8 . The computer system of claim 6 , wherein the modification of the display of the first and second panels includes modifying sizes of the first and second panels within the first flex container.

9 . The computer system of claim 6 , wherein the modification of the display of the first and second panels includes dynamically and proportionally resizing the first and second panels within the first flex container.

10 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein one or more processors are configured to execute code to further cause the computer system to:

nest the first flex container within a second flex container, and wherein an arrangement of the first flex container in the user interface preview is based on a configuration of the second flex container.

11 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the configuration includes a rate at which the first flex container changes in size in response to a change in the size of the window.

12 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first panel comprises a repeating panel, and wherein the configuration includes code specifying parameters for generating repeats of the first panel.

13 . The computer system of claim 12 , wherein the user interface preview includes one or more repeats of the first panel in accordance with the code and a response for a query to a database.

14 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

causing display of a first user interface including:

a first flex container;

a first panel within the first flex container; and

one or more options for configuring the first flex container;

receiving a user input, via the one or more options, indicating a configuration of the first flex container, wherein the configuration includes at least one of: a position, a width, a height, a portion of a width, a portion of a height, an alignment, a justification, a wrapping, a split, or a distribution;

in response to receiving the user input, applying the configuration to the first flex container;

generating a user interface preview including the first panel; and

in response to a modification of a size of a window in which the user interface preview is displayed, modifying a display of the first panel in accordance with the configuration of the first flex container.

The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the first flex container comprises a flexible boundary within which one or more panels or other user interface elements can be arranged, and wherein the configuration is applied to the first flex container as a style or style sheet interpretable by a web browser.

The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the modification of the display of the first panel includes at least one of: modifying a position of the first panel within the first flex container, modifying a size of the first panel within the first flex container, or dynamically and proportionally resizing the first panel within the first flex container.

17 . The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the first user interface further includes a second panel within the first flex container, wherein the user interface preview further includes the second panel, and wherein the method further comprises:

in response to the modification of the size of the window, modifying a display of the second panel in accordance with the configuration of the first flex container,

wherein the modification of the display of the first and/or second panels includes at least one of: modifying a position of the second panel, relative to a position of the first panel, within the first flex container; modifying sizes of the first and second panels within the first flex container; or dynamically and proportionally resizing the first and second panels within the first flex container.

18 . The computer-implemented method of claim 14 further comprising:

nest the first flex container within a second flex container, and wherein an arrangement of the first flex container in the user interface preview is based on a configuration of the second flex container.

19 . The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the configuration includes a rate at which the first flex container changes in size in response to a change in the size of the window.

The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the first panel comprises a repeating panel, wherein the configuration includes code specifying parameters for generating repeats of the first panel, and wherein the user interface preview includes one or more repeats of the first panel in accordance with the code and a response for a query to a database.
