Abstract

Systems are disclosed which are programmed to receive data regarding a quantity and/or type of at least a subset of a plurality of disinfection sources for disinfecting an area or room and determining, based on the received data, operating parameter/s for one or more disinfection sources to disinfect the area or room.

Claims (55)

1 . A system, comprising:

multiple disinfection sources; and

a processing system comprising a processor and program instructions executable by the processor for:

receiving data specifying a quantity and/or type of one or more disinfection sources of the multiple disinfection sources to be used for disinfecting an area or room;

using the specified quantity value and/or the specified type of the one or more disinfection sources to determine one or more operating parameters for at least one disinfection source of the one or more disinfection sources to disinfect the area or room; and

subsequent to determining the one or more operating parameters:

sending one or more commands to one or more means within the system to automatically invoke the one or more operating parameters; or

relaying the one or more operating parameters to a user interface of the system.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the data specifying the quantity and/or type of the one or more disinfection sources is received from a user interface of the system.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for activating operation of each of the one or more disinfection sources subsequent to determining the one or more parameters.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for receiving data regarding characteristics of the area or room, wherein the program instructions for determining the one or more operating parameters is further based on the received data regarding characteristics of the area or room, and wherein the characteristics comprise:

room identifying information and/or occupancy information regarding the area or room;

size and/or dimensions of the area or room;

a number, size, distance, location, reflectivity and/or identification of one or more surfaces, objects and/or items within the area or room; and/or

a number, concentration and/or identification of one or more pathological organisms in the area or room.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the multiple disinfection sources are disposed on distinct apparatuses.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the multiple disinfection sources are disposed on the same apparatus.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more operating parameters comprise a run time of the at least one disinfection source, a location of the at least one disinfection source within the area or room, an orientation of a component comprising the at least one disinfection source, a rate of germicidal discharge from the at least one disinfection source and/or power supplied to the at least one disinfection source.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for:

discerning a target location, region, surface or object within the area or room for each of the one or more disinfection sources; and

determining, for each of the one or more disinfection sources, one or more individual operating parameters which are specific to disinfecting their respective target location, region, surface or object.

9 . A system, comprising:

multiple discrete portable room disinfection apparatuses; and

a processing system comprising a processor and program instructions executable by the processor for:

receiving data regarding a quantity and/or type of one or more room disinfection apparatuses of the multiple discrete portable room disinfection apparatuses to be used for disinfecting an area or room;

determining, based on the received data, a different location within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses to be positioned to disinfect the area or room;

sending one or more commands to move each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses to their respectively determined location; and

subsequent to determining the different location within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, activating operation of each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses.

The system of claim 9 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for receiving data regarding characteristics of the area or room, wherein the program instructions for determining the different location within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses is further based on the received data regarding characteristics of the area or room, and wherein the characteristics comprise:

room identifying information and/or occupancy information regarding the area or room;

size and/or dimensions of the area or room;

a number, size, distance, location, reflectivity and/or identification of one or more surfaces, objects and/or items within the area or room; and/or

a number, concentration and/or identification of one or more pathological organisms in the area or room.

The system of claim 9 , wherein the data regarding the quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses specifies the quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, and wherein the program instructions for determining the different location within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses is based on the specified quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses.

12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for:

discerning a target location, region, surface or object within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses; and

determining, for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, one or more individual operating parameters which are specific to disinfecting their respective target location, region, surface or object.

The system of claim 12 , wherein the one or more individual operating parameters comprise a run time for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, an orientation of a component comprising each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, a rate of germicidal discharge from each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, and/or power supplied to each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses.

14 . A system, comprising:

multiple discrete room disinfection apparatuses each comprising wheels and a motor to provide automated mobility of the respective room disinfection apparatus across at least part of an area or room in which the room disinfection apparatus is arranged; and

a processing system comprising a processor and program instructions executable by the processor for:

receiving data regarding a quantity and/or type of one or room disinfection apparatuses of the multiple discrete room disinfection apparatuses to be used for disinfecting the area or room;

determining, based on the received data, a speed for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses to move in the area or room during disinfection of the area or room; and

subsequent to determining the one or more operating parameters, activating operation of each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses and sending one or more commands to the motors within each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses to automatically invoke the determined speed.

The system of claim 14 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for receiving data regarding characteristics of the area or room, wherein the program instructions for determining the speed for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses is further based on the received data regarding characteristics of the area or room, and wherein the characteristics comprise:

room identifying information and/or occupancy information regarding the area or room;

size and/or dimensions of the area or room;

a number, size, distance, location, reflectivity and/or identification of one or more surfaces, objects and/or items within the area or room; and/or

a number, concentration and/or identification of one or more pathological organisms in the area or room.

The system of claim 14 , wherein the data regarding the quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses specifies the quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, and wherein the program instructions for determining the speed for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses is based on the specified quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses.

17 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the data regarding the quantity and/or type of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses is received from a user interface of the system.

18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the processing system further comprises program instructions executable by the processor for:

discerning a target location, region, surface or object within the area or room for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses; and

determining, for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, one or more individual operating parameters which are specific to disinfecting their respective target location, region, surface or object.

The system of claim 18 , wherein the one or more individual operating parameters comprise a run time for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, a location for each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses within the area or room, an orientation of a component comprising each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, a rate of germicidal discharge from each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses, and/or power supplied to each of the one or more room disinfection apparatuses.
