METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATMENT OF USER TRAFFIC WITH MULTIPLE LAN SERVICES AND SINGLE CHARGING
Treatment of user traffic with multiple LAN Services and Single Charging. A network configuration for multiple N6/SGi LANs that are used to treat a given UE traffic. A system is configured for traffic routing and handling when a given session is to be treated by services offered in multiple N6-LANs. Load balancing for user traffic to different available servers if configured on N6 interface is provided. A health check mechanism of the available servers on the N6 interface is provided.
1 . A system comprising:
an Session Management Function (SMF) connected to a User Plane Function (UPF) or a Control Plane (CP) connected to a User Plane (UP) by an N4 interface;
the UP connected to an SGi Local Access Network (LAN) by an SGi interface;
the UPF connected a N6 LAN by an N6 interface;
the system being is configured for traffic routing and handling a session in a plurality of N6-LANs.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the UPF is configured with an Access Point Name (APN)/Data Network Name (DNN) having two Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRFs), a VRF1 (apn_Internal) and a VRF2 (apn_external).
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the UPF is configured to send the traffic towards the N6 LAN or SGi LAN, the UPF being configured to insert a Virtual LAN (VLAN) ID into a VRF packet, wherein the VLAN ID is configured to inform the server for a specific service and treatment.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the UPF is configured to insert a Media Access Control (MAC) address.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the CP is configured such that the APN is configured to have multiple N6 LAN interfaces or multiple SGi LAN interfaces.
6 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the UPF is configured to at least, in the Uplink:
send the packet towards the server 1 with a MAC1 as Source, a MAC2 as destination and a VLAN ID=101 as the VLAN, the server 1 being configured to process the packet, set the VLAN as VLAN 2 and then route the packet back to the UPF by virtue of the MAC; and
match the VLAN 2 packet, process the packet again, and re-create and forward the packet to a server 2 with a VLAN ID=3 as the VLAN.
7 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the UPF is configured to at least, in the Downlink:
process a packet sent by a server 2 towards the UPF; and
forward the packet toward a server1 by setting the MAC as MAC3 for a Source MAC, setting the MAC as MAC4 for a Destination MAC and set the VLAN as VLAN ID=5, wherein the server 1 processes the packet, sets VLAN ID as 400 and then is routed back to the UPF.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured for load balancing user traffic to different available servers when configured on the N6 interface or the SGi interface.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to prevent double charging of traffic when the traffic passes through a plurality of N6 or SGi interfaces.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system configured to execute a health check for available servers on an N6 interface.
