Abstract

A foot force detection system includes first and second shoe force detection units. The first shoe force detection unit includes a first plurality of pressure sensors operably coupled to produce first force data, a first processing module operably coupled to produce a first digital representation of the first force data and a first communication unit operably coupled to the first processing module. The second shoe force detection unit includes a second plurality of pressure sensors operably coupled to produce second force data, a second processing module operably coupled to produce a second digital representation of the second force data, and a second communication unit operably coupled to the second processing module. The first and second shoe force detection units communicate with each other via the communication units.

Claims (34)

1 . A foot force detection system comprises:

a first shoe force detection unit including:

a first plurality of pressure sensors operably coupled to produce first force data;

a first processing module operably coupled to produce a first digital representation of the first force data; and

a first communication unit operably coupled to the first processing module;

a second shoe force detection unit including:

a second plurality of pressure sensors operably coupled to produce second force data;

a second processing module operably coupled to produce a second digital representation of the second force data; and

a second communication unit operably coupled to the second processing module; wherein the first communication unit communicates foot force data with the second communication unit.

2 . The foot force detection system of claim 1 further comprises:

the first communication unit including a first shoe area network transceiver;

the second communication unit including a second shoe area network transceiver, wherein the foot force data is communicated via the first and second shoe area network transceivers, and wherein at least one of the first and second communication units includes a transceiver for communicating with a computing entity.

3 . The foot force detection system of claim 1 further comprises:

the first communication unit including a first light transceiver,

the second communication unit including a second light transceiver, wherein the foot force data is communicated via the first and second light transceivers, and wherein at least one of the first and second communication units includes a transceiver for communicating with a computing entity.

4 . The foot force detection system of claim 3 further comprises:

the first plurality of pressure sensors including a plurality of variable capacitors;

wherein the first drive sense circuit is operably coupled to a variable capacitor of the plurality of variable capacitors, wherein the first drive sense circuit is operable to:

transmit a first outbound signal to the second drive sense circuit via the body at a first frequency;

receive a first inbound signal from the second drive sense circuit via the body at a second frequency; and

drive and sense an impedance of the variable capacitor at a third frequency.

5 . The foot force detection system of claim 3 further comprises:

the second plurality of pressure sensors including a plurality of variable capacitors;

wherein the second drive sense circuit is operably coupled to a variable capacitor of the plurality of variable capacitors, wherein the second drive sense circuit is operable to:

receive a first inbound signal from the first drive sense circuit via the body at a first frequency;

transmit a first outbound signal to the first drive sense circuit via the body at a second frequency; and

drive and sense an impedance of the variable capacitor at a third frequency.

6 . The foot force detection system of claim 1 , wherein the foot force data comprises one or more of:

sync information to sync timing of foot force sampling;

pattern recognition data to recognize athletic movement pattern data;

at least a portion of the first force data;

at least a portion of the second force data;

at least a portion of the first digital representation; and

at least a portion of the second digital representation.
