Abstract

A pultrusion fiber reinforced polymer (PFRP) structural building assembly comprises a PFRP floor assembly, which has a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one side surface surrounding the top surface and the bottom surface. At least one PFRP flange is connected to the at least one side surface of the PFRP floor assembly and extending away from the PFRP floor assembly. The PFRP flange is configured to encircle a vertical PFRP piling. A flexible epoxy bonds together components of the PFRP structural building assembly, wherein the flexible epoxy is configured to provide a uniform coefficient of thermal expansion throughout the PFRP structural building assembly.

Claims (28)

1 . A pultrusion fiber reinforced polymer (PFRP) structural building assembly, comprising:

a PFRP floor assembly, comprising a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one side surface surrounding the top surface and the bottom surface; and

at least one PFRP flange connected to the at least one side surface of the PFRP floor assembly and extending away from the PFRP floor assembly, the PFRP flange configured to encircle a vertical PFRP piling.

2 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the top surface comprises PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

3 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the bottom surface comprises PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

4 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the at least one side surface comprises PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

5 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the PFRP floor assembly, is a fully enclosed hollow PFRP floor assembly.

6 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the PFRP floor assembly comprises a plurality of PFRP trusses, a plurality of PFRP joists, at least one horizontal PFRP I-beam, at least one horizontal PFRP wide flange beam, or at least one horizontal PFRP “C” channel; and

a flexible epoxy that bonds the PFRP floor sheathing to the plurality of PFRP trusses, the plurality of PFRP joists, the at least one horizontal PFRP I-beam, the at least one horizontal PFRP wide flange beam, or the at least one horizontal PFRP “C” channel;

wherein the flexible epoxy is configured to provide a uniform coefficient of thermal expansion throughout the PFRP floor assembly.

7 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the at least one PFRP flange is configured to move axially along the vertical PFRP piling.

8 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited in claim 1 , wherein the at least one PFRP flange is configured to attach to the vertical PFRP piling.

9 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited claim 1 , further comprising an applied thermal coating or intumescent fire-barrier coating.

10 . The PFRP structural building assembly recited claim 1 , further comprising at least one PFRP clip angle bracket configured to connect a PFRP I-beam, a PFRP wide flange column, or a PFRP wall assembly to the PFRP floor assembly.

11 . A method of assembling a pultrusion fiber reinforced polymer (PFRP) floor assembly, comprising:

provisioning a PFRP floor assembly, comprising a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one side surface surrounding the top surface and the bottom surface; and

connecting at least one PFRP flange to the at least one side surface of the PFRP floor assembly and extending away from the PFRP floor assembly, the PFRP flange configured to encircle a vertical PFRP piling.

12 . The method recited in claim 11 , wherein provisioning the PFRP floor assembly comprises constructing the top surface with PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

13 . The method recited in claim 11 , wherein provisioning the PFRP floor assembly comprises constructing the bottom surface with PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

14 . The method recited in claim 11 , wherein provisioning the PFRP floor assembly comprises constructing the at least one side surface with PFRP ballistic sheathing, PFRP non-ballistic sheathing, PFRP hollow core plank, or PFRP solid core plank.

15 . The method recited in claim 11 , wherein provisioning the PFRP floor assembly comprises constructing a fully enclosed hollow PFRP floor assembly.

16 . The method recited in claim 11 , wherein provisioning the PFRP floor assembly comprises provisioning a plurality of PFRP trusses, a plurality of PFRP joists, at least one horizontal PFRP I-beam, at least one horizontal PFRP wide flange beam, or at least one horizontal PFRP “C” channel; and

employing a flexible epoxy to bond the PFRP floor sheathing to the plurality of PFRP trusses, the plurality of PFRP joists, the at least one horizontal PFRP I-beam, the at least one horizontal PFRP wide flange beam, or the at least one horizontal PFRP “C” channel;

wherein the flexible epoxy is configured to provide a uniform coefficient of thermal expansion throughout the PFRP floor assembly.

17 . The method recited in claim 11 , further comprising configuring the at least one PFRP flange to move axially along the vertical PFRP piling.

18 . The method recited in claim 11 , further comprising attaching the at least one PFRP flange to the vertical PFRP piling.

19 . The method recited in claim 11 , further comprising applying a thermal coating or intumescent fire-barrier coating to the PFRP floor assembly.

20 . The method recited in claim 11 , further comprising employing at least one PFRP clip angle bracket to connect a PFRP I-beam, a PFRP wide flange column, or a PFRP wall assembly to the PFRP floor assembly.
