DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING AND MONITORING SPINAL IMPLANTS
Spinal device/implants are provided, comprising a spinal device/implant and a sensor.
1 . A method comprising:
generating data at a sensor housed in a cavity of a spinal cage implanted in an intervertebral space, the spinal cage having an open end, wherein the cavity extends from the open end to a second end of the spinal cage;
storing data generated by the sensor in a memory device housed in the cavity; and
transferring the data from the memory device to a location outside the implanted spinal cage.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a position of the spinal cage.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a vibration of the spinal cage.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a contact between the spinal cage and tissue, a vertebra, or an implant structure.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a force on the spinal cage.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a movement of the spinal cage.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the movement corresponds to at least one of rotation of the spinal cage and acceleration of the spinal cage.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data generated by the sensor represents a strain on the spinal cage.
