HANDLING DURESS INPUT
Techniques are described for handling duress input. For example, techniques are described for handling duress input provided to a mobile application that controls a monitoring system located at a fixed property.

21 . A system comprising one or more computers and one or more storage devices on which are stored instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more computers, to cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a device, a first input;
determining whether the first input matches a duress condition for triggering transmission of a location of the device and activation of a delay sequence;
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition:
transmitting, to a second, different system, a first message indicating a potential duress condition and the location of the device; and
initiating the delay sequence with a time period;
determining whether a second input was received during the time period; and
transmitting, to the second, different system, a second message using a result of the determination whether a second input was received during the time period.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving, via a duress user interface, the first input.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving the first input that is a sequence of touch inputs.
24 . The system of claim 21 , the operations comprising:
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition and after transmitting the first message, transmitting, during the time period, one or more additional messages that each indicate a second location of the device.
25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein:
receiving, from the input device, the first input comprises receiving data indicating a location of the input device; and
determining whether the first input matches the duress condition comprises determining whether the first input matches the duress condition and whether the location of the input device is within a threshold distance of a property associated with the input device.
26 . The system of claim 21 , the operations comprising:
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition, transmitting to a third system, a third message indicating the duress condition.
27 . The system of claim 21 , the operations comprising:
in response to at least one condition being met, transmitting, to the input device, a prompt for the first input.
28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving accelerometer data.
29 . One or more computer storage media encoded with instructions that, when executed by one or more computers, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a device, a first input;
determining whether the first input matches a duress condition for triggering transmission of a location of the device and activation of a delay sequence;
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition:
transmitting, to a second, different system, a first message indicating a potential duress condition and the location of the device; and
initiating the delay sequence with a time period;
determining whether a second input was received during the time period; and
transmitting, to the second, different system, a second message using a result of the determination whether a second input was received during the time period.
30 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving, via a duress user interface, the first input.
31 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving the first input that is a sequence of touch inputs.
32 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , the operations comprising:
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition and after transmitting the first message, transmitting, during the time period, one or more additional messages that each indicate a second location of the device.
33 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , wherein:
receiving, from the input device, the first input comprises receiving data indicating a location of the input device; and
determining whether the first input matches the duress condition comprises determining whether the first input matches the duress condition and whether the location of the input device is within a threshold distance of a property associated with the input device.
34 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , the operations comprising:
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition, transmitting to a third system, a third message indicating the duress condition.
35 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , the operations comprising:
in response to at least one condition being met, transmitting, to the input device, a prompt for the first input.
36 . The one or more computer storage media of claim 29 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving accelerometer data.
37 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving, from a device, a first input;
determining whether the first input matches a duress condition for triggering transmission of a location of the device and activation of a delay sequence;
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition:
transmitting, to a second, different system, a first message indicating a potential duress condition and the location of the device; and
initiating the delay sequence with a time period;
determining whether a second input was received during the time period; and
transmitting, to the second, different system, a second message using a result of the determination whether a second input was received during the time period.
38 . The method of claim 37 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving, via a duress user interface, the first input.
39 . The method of claim 37 , wherein receiving the first input comprises receiving the first input that is a sequence of touch inputs.
40 . The method of claim 37 , comprising:
in response to determining that the first input matches the duress condition and after transmitting the first message, transmitting, during the time period, one or more additional messages that each indicate a second location of the device.
