BIOMETRIC, PHYSIOLOGICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING USING A CLOSED CHAMBER
A wearable device may be worn in an ear of a user. The wearable device may include a biometric sensor that collects biometric information from the ear, and an environmental sensor that collects environmental information from the ear. The wearable device may receive the biometric information from the biometric sensor, and the environmental information from the environmental sensor, and send biofeedback determined from the biometric information, and an environmental condition determined from the environmental information, wirelessly to a communication device. 21 . A device worn in an ear of a user for health monitoring, comprising:
at least one first sensor to collect physiological information from an ear of a user;
at least one second sensor to collect environmental information; and
a processor configured to:
detect a level of an event causing damage or potential damage to a portion of a body of the user via at least one of the first sensor or the second sensor, wherein the level is detected when outside of an expected reading for the portion of the body; and
generate an alert to the user when the level is detected, wherein the alert includes notifying the user based on the event.
22 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to a sound causing potential damage to the ear.
23 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to a loud external noise causing potential damage to a tympanic membrane of the user.
24 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) toxins causing potential damage to a tympanic membrane of the user.
25 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the level is detected based on an erratic heart rate, cardiac signature, or heart murmur of the user.
26 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the expected reading is adjusted based on exercise of the user.
27 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the alert includes notifying the user to move away from a noise source or seek medical treatment.
28 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the alert includes at least one of the physiological information or the environmental information.
29 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the at least one first sensor comprises an ear canal microphone, and wherein the at least one second sensor comprises an ambient microphone.
30 . A method for health monitoring, comprising:
detecting a level of an event causing damage or potential damage to a portion of a body of a user via at least one of a first sensor that collects physiological information from an ear of the user or a second sensor that collects environmental information, wherein the level is detected when outside of an expected reading for the portion of the body; and
generating an alert to the user when the level is detected, wherein the alert includes notifying the user based on the event.
31 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to a sound causing potential damage to the ear.
32 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to a loud external noise causing potential damage to a tympanic membrane of the user.
33 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the level is detected based on exposure to NIHL toxins causing potential damage to a tympanic membrane of the user.
34 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the level is detected based on an erratic heart rate, cardiac signature, or heart murmur of the user.
35 . The method of claim 30 , further comprising:
adjusting the expected reading based on exercise of the user.
36 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the alert includes at least one of the physiological information or the environmental information.
