Abstract

A computer implemented method of applying a unified search for a match of one or more features in a plurality of encrypted records, comprising using one or more processors of a server associated with a database comprising a plurality of encrypted records. The processor(s) is adapted for receiving a query for searching one or more plaintext features in the plurality of encrypted, searching for a match of the one or more plaintext features using a first search methodology and a second search methodology and outputting an indication of matching encrypted records according to the match. Wherein the second search methodology is asymptotically faster than the first search methodology and wherein the first search methodology is used for searching a subset of the plurality of encrypted records selected based on status indication associated with each encrypted record.

Claims (38)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A computer-implemented method for generating and distributing keys, comprising:

generating a first keyset based on a first master key;

distributing the first keyset to a plurality of client devices;

receiving, from a key issuer, a rotation key, wherein the rotation key is issued in response to change in a number of the plurality of the client devices;

generating a second keyset based on the first master key and the rotation key; and

distributing the second keyset to the plurality of client devices.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first keyset comprises an encryption key, decryption key, and re-encryption key.

23 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising, prior to distributing the first keyset, encrypting the first keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

24 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising, prior to distributing the second keyset, encrypting the second keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first keyset further comprises a search key.

26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein generating the first master key comprises generating using a Proxy Re-Encryption scheme.

27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein generating the second keyset comprises generating using a Proxy Re-Encryption scheme.

28 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause:

generating a first keyset based on a first master key;

distributing the first keyset to a plurality of client devices;

receiving, from a key issuer, a rotation key, wherein the rotation key is issued in response to change in a number of the plurality of the client devices;

generating a second keyset based on the first master key and the rotation key; and

distributing the second keyset to the plurality of client devices.

29 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the first keyset comprises an encryption key, decryption key, and re-encryption key.

30 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the set of instructions further comprises, prior to distributing the first keyset, encrypting the first keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

31 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the set of instructions further comprises, prior to distributing the second keyset, encrypting the second keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

32 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the first keyset further comprises a search key.

33 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein generating the first master key comprises generating using a Proxy Re-Encryption scheme.

34 . The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 28 , wherein generating the second keyset comprises generating using a Proxy Re-Encryption scheme.

35 . A system of generating and distributing keys, the system comprising:

a processor;

a memory operatively connected to the processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause:

generating a first keyset based on a first master key;

distributing the first keyset to a plurality of client devices;

receiving, from a key issuer, a rotation key, wherein the rotation key is issued in response to change in a number of the plurality of the client devices;

generating a second keyset based on the first master key and the rotation key; and

distributing the second keyset to the plurality of client devices.

36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the first keyset comprises an encryption key, decryption key, and re-encryption key.

37 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the instructions further cause, prior to distributing the first keyset, encrypting the first keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

38 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the instructions further cause, prior to distributing the second keyset, encrypting the second keyset using an inbox key associated with a client device.

39 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the first keyset further comprises a search key.

40 . The system of claim 35 , wherein generating the first master key comprises generating using a Proxy Re-Encryption scheme.
