Abstract

A system for conditioning a gas includes an inlet configured to receive the gas from a gas source. The system also includes a strainer downstream from the inlet. The strainer is configured to remove debris from the gas. The system also includes a first flowpath downstream from the strainer. The first flowpath includes a first pressure regulator that is configured to regulate a pressure of the gas by a first amount. The system also includes a second flowpath downstream from the strainer. The first and second flowpaths are parallel. The second flowpath includes a second pressure regulator that is configured to regulate the pressure of the gas by a second amount. The system also includes one or more flowpath valves downstream from the strainer and upstream from the first pressure regulator, the second pressure regulator, or both.

21 . A system for conditioning a gas comprising natural gas, the system comprising:

an inlet configured to receive gas from a gas source;

an inlet valve downstream from the inlet and configured to actuate between:

a first position, in which the inlet valve permits flow from the inlet, and

a second position, in which the inlet valve prevents flow from the inlet;

a first flowpath downstream from the inlet valve;

a second flowpath downstream from the inlet valve and parallel to the first flowpath;

one or more flowpath valves downstream from the inlet valve and configured to control an amount of the gas that flows from the inlet valve into the first flowpath and the second flowpath;

a third flowpath configured to receive the gas from the first flowpath and the second flowpath; and

one or more pipeline taps configured to facilitate measurement of an energy content of the gas in the third flowpath, wherein the inlet valve is configured to actuate between the first and second positions responsive to the energy content.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the first flowpath comprises a first pressure regulator configured to regulate a pressure of the gas by a first amount.

23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the second flowpath comprises a second pressure regulator that is configured to regulate the pressure of the gas by a second amount that is different from the first amount.

24 . The system of claim 21 , comprising a strainer disposed downstream of the inlet and upstream of the first flowpath and the second flowpath and configured to remove debris from the gas.

25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more flowpath valves are selectively actuatable between:

a first position where the gas is directed through the first flowpath and not the second flowpath, and

a second position where the gas is directed through the second flowpath and not the first flowpath.

26 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the one or more flowpath valves are selectively actuatable to a third position where the gas is prevented from flowing into the first flowpath and the second flowpath.

27 . The system of claim 26 , wherein the one or more flowpath valves are selectively actuatable to a fourth position where a first portion of the gas flows through the first flowpath and a second portion of the gas flows through the second flowpath.

28 . The system of claim 21 comprising an optical analyzer coupled to the pipeline taps, the optical analyzer configured to measure the energy content of the gas as the gas moves through the third flowpath.

29 . The system of claim 21 , comprising a scrubber disposed in the third flowpath and configured to remove liquid from the gas.

30 . A method for conditioning a gas comprising natural gas, the method comprising:

receiving, from a gas source, gas through an inlet;

by operation of one or more flowpath valves, controlling an amount of gas that flows through a first flowpath and a second flowpath that is parallel to the first flowpath;

by operation of a first pressure regulator, regulating a pressure of the gas present in the first flowpath by a first amount;

by operation of a second pressure regulator, regulating a pressure of the gas present in the second flowpath by a second amount that is different from the first amount;

receiving the gas from the first flowpath and the second flowpath into a third flowpath;

by operation of a pipeline tap disposed in the third flowpath, measuring an energy content of the gas downstream in the third flowpath; and

actuating an inlet valve disposed downstream of the inlet and upstream of the first flowpath and the second flowpath responsive to the measured energy content of the gas.

31 . The method of claim 30 , comprising removing debris from the gas by operation of a strainer disposed upstream of the first flowpath and the second flowpath.

32 . The method of claim 30 , comprising discharging the gas from an outlet.

33 . The method of claim 30 , wherein measuring the energy content of the gas comprises utilizing an optical analyzer to measure the energy content of the gas as the gas flows through the third flowpath.

34 . The method of claim 30 , comprising selectively actuating the one or more flowpath valves between:

a first position where the gas is directed through the first flowpath and not the second flowpath, and

a second position where the gas is directed through the second flowpath and not the first flowpath.

35 . The method of claim 34 , comprising selectively actuating the one or more flowpath valves to a third position where the gas is prevented from flowing into the first flowpath and the second flowpath.

36 . The method of claim 35 , comprising selectively actuating the one or more flowpath valves to a fourth position where a first portion of the gas flows through the first flowpath and a second portion of the gas flows through the second flowpath.
