Abstract

A wireless 5G/6G message can be demodulated by converting the as-received I-branch and Q-branch signals to the corresponding waveform amplitude and phase, using simple algorithms. Then, fault diagnosis and fault correction can be performed efficiently based on the waveform parameters.

Claims (6)

1 . A method for a wireless receiver to demodulate a message, the method comprising:

a) receiving a message comprising message elements, each message element comprising a received signal in a resource element of a resource grid;

b) for each message element, separating the received signal into an I-branch comprising an I-branch amplitude, and an orthogonal Q-branch comprising a Q-branch amplitude;

c) for each message element, calculating a waveform amplitude comprising a square root of the I-branch amplitude squared plus the Q-branch amplitude squared;

d) for each message element, calculating a waveform phase comprising an arctangent of a ratio of the I-branch amplitude divided by the Q-branch amplitude, or an inverse thereof; and

e) demodulating each message element by comparing the waveform amplitude to integer Namp predetermined amplitude levels, and comparing the waveform phase to integer Nphase predetermined phase levels.
