Abstract

Technologies are provided for database modification using a script component. In some embodiments, a method comprises executing, by a computing system comprising at least one processor, a script component comprising one or more functions to transform a database. The method also includes modifying, by the computing system, the database based on at least one transformation defined by the one or more functions in response to executing the script component.

Claims (37)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving, via a user interface, input information associated with a data model, wherein the input information is indicative of a natural language (NL) statement;

determining, based on the NL statement and a plurality of script templates, that a first script template of the plurality of script templates is associated with the NL statement, wherein the first script template comprises a plurality of metavariables;

determining, based on the first script template, a plurality of fields of the data model associated with the plurality of metavariables, wherein the plurality of fields corresponds to the NL statement;

generating, based on the first script template, a first script comprising one or more functions and the plurality of fields, wherein the plurality of fields replace the plurality of metavariables in the first script template; and

causing, based on execution of the first script, the one or more functions to modify the data model.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the first script template is associated with the NL statement comprises determining, based on the NL statement, that the first script template matches at least one portion of the NL statement.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data model is associated with a data scope, and wherein the one or more functions modify the data model and retain the data scope.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more functions add data related to the plurality of fields to at least one table in the data model.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first script template comprises one or more code instructions that operate on the plurality of metavariables in the first script template.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface comprises a command-line prompt, and wherein receiving the input information associated with the data model comprises receiving, via the command-line prompt, the input information associated with the data model.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more functions comprise a LOAD statement, a JOIN statement, or a CONCATENATE statement.

8 . An apparatus comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:

receive, via a user interface, input information associated with a data model, wherein the input information is indicative of a natural language (NL) statement;

determine, based on the NL statement and a plurality of script templates, that a first script template of the plurality of script templates is associated with the NL statement, wherein the first script template comprises a plurality of metavariables;

determine, based on the first script template, a plurality of fields of the data model associated with the plurality of metavariables, wherein the plurality of fields corresponds to the NL statement;

generate, based on the first script template, a first script comprising one or more functions and the plurality of fields, wherein the plurality of fields replace the plurality of metavariables in the first script template; and

cause, based on execution of the first script, the one or more functions to modify the data model.

The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processor-executable instructions that cause the apparatus to determine that the first script template is associated with the NL statement further cause the apparatus to determine, based on the NL statement, that the first script template matches at least one portion of the NL statement.

10 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the data model is associated with a data scope, and wherein the one or more functions modify the data model and retain the data scope.

11 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more functions add data related to the plurality of fields to at least one table in the data model.

12 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first script template comprises one or more code instructions that operate on the plurality of metavariables in the first script template.

13 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the user interface comprises a command-line prompt, and wherein the processor-executable instructions that cause the apparatus to receive the input information associated with the data model further cause the apparatus to receive, via the command-line prompt, the input information associated with the data model.

14 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more functions comprise a LOAD statement, a JOIN statement, or a CONCATENATE statement.

15 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing processor-executable instructions that, in response to execution by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive, via a user interface, input information associated with a data model, wherein the input information is indicative of a natural language (NL) statement;

determine, based on the NL statement and a plurality of script templates, that a first script template of the plurality of script templates is associated with the NL statement, wherein the first script template comprises a plurality of metavariables;

determine, based on the first script template, a plurality of fields of the data model associated with the plurality of metavariables, wherein the plurality of fields corresponds to the NL statement;

generate, based on the first script template, a first script comprising one or more functions and the plurality of fields, wherein the plurality of fields replace the plurality of metavariables in the first script template; and

cause, based on execution of the first script, the one or more functions to modify the data model.

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein the processor-executable instructions that cause the at least one processor to determine that the first script template is associated with the NL statement further cause the at least one processor to determine, based on the NL statement, that the first script template matches at least one portion of the NL statement.

17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein the data model is associated with a data scope, and wherein the one or more functions modify the data model and retain the data scope.

18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein the one or more functions add data related to the plurality of fields to at least one table in the data model.

19 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein the first script template comprises one or more code instructions that operate on the plurality of metavariables in the first script template.

20 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein the user interface comprises a command-line prompt, and wherein the processor- executable instructions that cause the at least one processor to receive the input information associated with the data model further cause the at least one processor to receive, via the command-line prompt, the input information associated with the data model.
