BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND CONTROL METHODS
A system for battery management on a vehicle, comprising: a first system associated with a first battery pack, and a second system associated with a second battery pack, where the first battery pack is electrically connected to the second battery pack via a high voltage bus, the first battery pack is configured to power to a first electric engine, and the second battery pack is configured to power to a second electric engine. The first system may be configured to monitor a state of the first battery pack and isolate, by blowing a first fuse, the first battery pack from the second battery pack upon detecting an electrical issue, and the second system may be configured to monitor a state of the second battery pack and isolate, by blowing a second fuse, the second battery pack from the first battery pack upon detecting an electrical issue.

85 . A system for battery management on a vehicle, comprising:
a first battery management system associated with a first battery pack; and
a second battery management system associated with a second battery pack;
wherein the first battery pack is electrically connected to the second battery pack via a high voltage bus, wherein the first battery pack is configured to power to a first electric engine, wherein the second battery pack is configured to power to a second electric engine;
wherein the first battery pack is electrically separate from a third battery pack configured to power a third electric engine;
wherein the first battery pack is configured to act as a backup battery pack for powering the second electric engine via the high voltage bus;
wherein the second battery pack is configured to act as a backup battery for powering the first electric engine via the high voltage bus;
wherein the first battery management system is configured to monitor a state of the first battery pack and isolate, by blowing a first fuse, the first battery pack from the second battery pack upon detecting an electrical issue; and
wherein the second battery management system is configured to monitor a state of the second battery pack and isolate, by blowing a second fuse, the second battery pack from the first battery pack upon detecting an electrical issue.
86 . The system of claim 85 , wherein the electrical issue is an overcurrent condition or short circuit condition.
87 . The system of claim 86 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with the first electric engine, and the blowing of the first fuse disconnects the first electric engine from power supply.
88 . The system of claim 86 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with the high voltage bus and the blowing of the first fuse separates power supply to the first electric engine from power supply to the second electric engine.
89 . The system of claim 86 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with first battery pack circuitry and the blowing of the first fuse separates the first battery pack from supplying power to the first and second electric engines.
90 . The system of claim 85 , wherein the first battery management system is configured to monitor a charge level for the first battery pack and to transmit information on the charge level to a charge control unit.
91 . The system of claim 85 , wherein the first battery management system is configured to monitor a temperature of the first battery pack and to transmit information on the temperature of first battery pack to a charge control unit.
92 . The system of claim 91 , wherein the system further comprises a contactor and the first battery management system is configured to open a contactor, disconnecting the first battery pack from a charging circuitry, upon receiving a signal from the charge control unit.
93 . The system of claim 85 , wherein at least one of the first fuse or the second fuse is a pyro-technical fuse.
94 . The system of any of claim 85 , wherein the first and second electric engines are power aircraft electric propulsion units.

96 . A battery pack management system for a vehicle, configured to:
monitor a state of a first battery pack, wherein the first battery pack is electrically connected to a second battery pack via a high voltage bus, is configured to power to a first electric engine, and is configured to act as a backup battery pack for powering a second electric engine via the high voltage bus; and
isolate, by blowing a fuse, the first battery pack from a second battery pack upon detecting an electrical issue, wherein the second battery pack is configured to power a second electric engine and is configured to act as a backup battery for powering the first electric engine via the high voltage bus.
97 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the electrical issue is an overcurrent condition or short circuit condition.
98 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with the first electric engine, and the blowing of the fuse disconnects the first electric engine from power supply.
99 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with the high voltage bus and the blowing of the fuse separates power supply to the first electric engine from power supply to the second electric engine.
100 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the electrical issue is associated with first battery pack circuitry and the blowing of the fuse separates the first battery pack from supplying power to the first and second electric engines.
101 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the battery pack management system monitors a charge level for the first battery pack and transmits information on the charge level to a charge control unit.
102 . The battery pack management system of claim 101 , wherein the battery pack management system monitors the first battery pack temperature and transmits information on the first battery pack temperature to the charge control unit.
103 . The battery pack management system of claim 102 , wherein the battery pack management system further comprises a contactor and the battery pack management system opens a contactor, disconnecting the first battery pack from a charging circuitry, upon receiving a signal from the charge control unit.
104 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the fuse is a pyro-technical fuse.
105 . The battery pack management system of claim 96 , wherein the first and second electric engines are power aircraft electric propulsion units.
