Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for intelligent webhook are described herein. The intelligent webhook can insert code into one or containers associated with an application being deployed by an orchestration service. The code enables the intelligent webhook to monitor operations, including startup, of a container mutated to include the code. The intelligent webhook has knowledge of whether a mutated container failed to startup in a prior instance, and if it fails, the intelligent webhook can insert a modified version of the code and/or adjust resource limit constraints to facilitate mutation of a container scheduled to be deployed with an application.

Claims (68)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media comprising instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause one or more components of the system to perform operations comprising:

mutating a container to provide a first mutated container;

admitting the first mutated container to be used conjunction with an application;

storing telemetry information in a webhook file associated with the container;

detecting that the first mutated container crashed;

accessing the telemetry information associated with the first mutated container;

determining, based on the telemetry information, a corrective action; and

performing the corrective action.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

altering resource constraints by increasing resources by a fixed quantity; and

re-admitting the first mutated container after increasing the resources by the fixed quantity.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

installing a second mutation into the container to provide a second mutated container; and

admitting the second mutated container to be used in conjunction with the application.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein:

the telemetry information stored in the webhook file comprises telemetry information obtained during startup of the first mutated container; and

detecting that the first mutated container crashed comprises detecting that the first mutated container crashed during the startup.

25 . The system of claim 21 , the operations further comprising, prior to mutating the container to provide the first mutated container, selecting a first mutation from a plurality of mutations to be applied to the container.

26 . The system of claim 21 , the operations further comprising:

retrieving webhook operating parameters of an intelligent webhook from a telemetry interception and analysis platform (TIAP), wherein the webhook operating parameters are included in a webhook configuration file; and

mutating the container to provide the first mutated container based on the webhook configuration file, wherein the first mutated container comprises monitoring code that allows the intelligent webhook to obtain the telemetry information related to operation of the first mutated container.

27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the application is associated with a plurality of containers that are potentially deployed during execution of the application.

28 . A method, comprising:

mutating a container to provide a first mutated container;

admitting the first mutated container to be used conjunction with an application;

storing telemetry information in a webhook file associated with the container;

detecting that the first mutated container crashed;

accessing the telemetry information associated with the first mutated container;

determining, based on the telemetry information, a corrective action; and

performing the corrective action.

29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

altering resource constraints by increasing resources by a fixed quantity; and

re-admitting the first mutated container after increasing the resources by the fixed quantity.

30 . The method of claim 28 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

installing a second mutation into the container to provide a second mutated container; and

admitting the second mutated container to be used in conjunction with the application.

31 . The method of claim 28 , wherein:

the telemetry information stored in the webhook file comprises telemetry information obtained during startup of the first mutated container; and

detecting that the first mutated container crashed comprises detecting that the first mutated container crashed during the startup.

32 . The method of claim 28 , further comprising, prior to mutating the container to provide the first mutated container, selecting a first mutation from a plurality of mutations to be applied to the container.

33 . The method of claim 28 , further comprising:

retrieving webhook operating parameters of an intelligent webhook from a telemetry interception and analysis platform (TIAP), wherein the webhook operating parameters are included in a webhook configuration file; and

mutating the container to provide the first mutated container based on the webhook configuration file, wherein the first mutated container comprises monitoring code that allows the intelligent webhook to obtain the telemetry information related to operation of the first mutated container.

34 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the application is associated with a plurality of containers that are potentially deployed during execution of the application.

35 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that are configured, when executed by a processor associated with a network element, to perform operations comprising:

mutating a container to provide a first mutated container;

admitting the first mutated container to be used conjunction with an application;

storing telemetry information in a webhook file associated with the container;

detecting that the first mutated container crashed;

accessing the telemetry information associated with the first mutated container;

determining, based on the telemetry information, a corrective action; and

performing the corrective action.

36 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

altering resource constraints by increasing resources by a fixed quantity; and

re-admitting the first mutated container after increasing the resources by the fixed quantity.

37 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , wherein performing the corrective action comprises:

installing a second mutation into the container to provide a second mutated container; and

admitting the second mutated container to be used in conjunction with the application.

38 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , wherein:

the telemetry information stored in the webhook file comprises telemetry information obtained during startup of the first mutated container; and

detecting that the first mutated container crashed comprises detecting that the first mutated container crashed during the startup.

39 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , the operations further comprising, prior to mutating the container to provide the first mutated container, selecting a first mutation from a plurality of mutations to be applied to the container.

40 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 35 , the operations further comprising:

retrieving webhook operating parameters of an intelligent webhook from a telemetry interception and analysis platform (TIAP), wherein the webhook operating parameters are included in a webhook configuration file; and

mutating the container to provide the first mutated container based on the webhook configuration file, wherein the first mutated container comprises monitoring code that allows the intelligent webhook to obtain the telemetry information related to operation of the first mutated container.
