Abstract

A system comprises an electromagnetic pulse generation system that comprises a first pulse generation circuit, a second pulse generation circuit, and a mixing circuit. The electromagnetic pulse generation system is operable to output a first pulse generated by the first pulse generation circuit onto a first signal path, output a second pulse generated by the second pulse generation circuit onto the first signal path, generate a third pulse by mixing, via the mixing circuit, a fourth pulse generated by the first pulse generation circuit and a fifth pulse generated by the second pulse generation circuit, and output the third pulse on the first signal path.

Claims (31)

21 . A system comprising:

a waveform source, wherein a waveform comprises a plurality of pulses of electromagnetic waves;

a waveform generator operably coupled to the waveform source;

a digital-to-analog converter operably coupled to the waveform generator to generate an analog output; and

a manager adapted to control the waveform generator, wherein:

the manager comprises an instruction memory configured to store instructions,

the manager comprises an instruction interpreter configured to sequentially execute the instructions, and

the manager is configured to determine a coupling of the analog output to one or more quantum elements of a plurality of quantum elements.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system comprises a mixing circuit operably coupled to at least one quantum element of the plurality of quantum elements.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the manager is software programmable.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the waveform generator comprises a routing circuit operable to route signals between a mixing circuit and the plurality of quantum elements.

25 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the routing circuit is configured to route the signals according to one or more characteristics of return pulses from a pulse-controlled system.

26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the waveform generator is operably coupled to a pulse-controlled system.

27 . The system of claim 26 , wherein the pulse-controlled system is a quantum system comprising one or more quantum elements.

28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system comprises a pulse modification circuit operable to pre-compensate for errors introduced by a signal path.

29 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system comprises a pulse modification circuit operable to process a plurality of pulse outputs and a mixed signal output.

30 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system comprises a pulse modification circuit operable to pre-compensate for errors introduced by a mixing circuit.

31 . A method comprising:

generating a waveform, comprising a plurality of pulses of electromagnetic waves, via a waveform source and a waveform generator;

converting the generated waveform into an analog output via a digital-to-analog converter operably coupled to the waveform generator; and

controlling the waveform generator by sequentially interpreting instructions, via a manager, wherein the manager is configured to determine a coupling of the analog output to one or more quantum elements of a plurality of quantum elements.

32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the method comprises mixing the analog output.

33 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the manager is software programmable.
