SELF-ADHERED ROOFING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to roofing systems. In some embodiments, the roofing system includes a deck, a roofing material, and an underlayment configured to be positioned between the roofing material and the deck. In some embodiments, the underlayment comprises a foil layer and an adhesive layer that is attached to the foil layer and configured to be attached to the deck. Methods of manufacturing roofing systems are also disclosed.
1 . A roofing system comprising:
a roof deck;
an underlayment; and
a roofing material,
wherein the underlayment is located between the roofing material and the roof deck;
wherein the underlayment comprises:
a non-woven layer;
a polymer layer;
a foil layer; and
an adhesive layer,
wherein the non-woven layer contacts the roofing material;
wherein the polymer layer contacts the non-woven layer;
wherein the foil layer is located between the polymer layer and the adhesive layer;
wherein the adhesive layer is located between the foil layer and the roof deck.
2 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven layer directly contacts the roofing material.
3 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven layer comprises at least one of polymer fibers, natural fibers, glass fibers, or any combination thereof.
4 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven layer is configured to be at least one of UV resistant, IR reflective, or any combination thereof.
5 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the polymer layer comprises at least one of a UV stabilizer, a thermal stabilizer, a fire retardant, or any combination thereof.
6 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the foil layer comprises at least one of aluminum, copper, tin, zinc, bronze, steel, silver, gold, platinum, or any combination thereof.
7 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the foil layer has a thickness of 1 μm to 100 μm.
8 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises at least one of an asphaltic adhesive, a butyl adhesive, or any combination thereof.
9 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer has a thickness of 1 mil to 100 mils.
10 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the roofing material comprises at least one of a shingle, a waterproofing membrane, a tile, or any combination thereof.
11 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven layer directly contacts the polymer layer.
12 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the polymer layer directly contacts the foil layer.
13 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the foil layer directly contacts the adhesive layer.
14 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer directly contacts the roof deck.
15 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the polymer layer, the foil layer, the adhesive layer, or any combination thereof are breathable.
16 . The roofing system of claim 1 , wherein the underlayment comprises a reinforcement layer.
17 . The roofing system of claim 16 , wherein the reinforcement layer is located between the foil layer and the adhesive layer.
18 . The roofing system of claim 16 , wherein the reinforcement layer comprises a scrim.
19 . The roofing system of claim 16 , wherein the reinforcement layer comprises a non-woven.
20 . A method of installation comprising:
obtaining an underlayment,
wherein the underlayment comprises:
a non-woven layer;
a polymer layer;
a foil layer; and
an adhesive layer,
wherein the polymer layer contacts the non-woven layer;
wherein the foil layer is located between the polymer layer and the adhesive layer;
obtaining a roofing material;
installing the underlayment on a roof deck,
wherein the adhesive layer of the underlayment is located between the foil layer of the underlayment and the roof deck; and
installing the roofing material on the underlayment,
wherein the roofing material contacts the non-woven layer of the underlayment.
