METHOD TO EXTRACT AND QUANTIFY THE CARDIAC END DIASTOLIC POINT/MITRAL VALVE CLOSING POINT FROM THE HVAD ESTIMATED FLOW WAVEFORM
A control circuit for a sensorless implantable blood pump configured to determine mitral valve regurgitation includes processing circuitry configured to generate an estimated blood flow waveform from the sensorless implanted blood pump and generate an alert if between an end period of diastole and a beginning period of systole a measured amplitude of the estimated blood flow waveform does not include an inflection point.
1 . A device, comprising:
processing circuitry configured to generate an estimated waveform based on data from an implantable pump;
wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine mitral valve regurgitation and generate an alert from the device based upon the estimated waveform amplitude.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine mitral valve regurgitation by at least determining the estimated waveform does not include an inflection point.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein to generate the estimated waveform based on the data from the implantable pump, the processing circuitry is configured to determine the estimated waveform based on a current supplied to the implantable pump.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to control the implantable pump based on a slope of the estimated waveform.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to periodically determine the estimated waveform amplitude of estimated blood flow between an end period of diastole and a beginning period of systole.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the implantable pump is electrically coupled to at least one from the group comprising an implanted controller and an external controller.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the implantable pump is one or more of a blood pump, a sensorless pump, a sensorless blood pump, a ventricular assist device and a centrifugal pump.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the generated alert includes a prompt to adjust the speed of the implantable pump.
9 . A device comprising:
processing circuitry configured to generate an estimated waveform based on data from an implantable pump;
wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine mitral valve regurgitation and generate an alert from the device based upon the estimated waveform amplitude displaying a mitral valve regurgitation indicator.
10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the mitral valve regurgitation indicator is the absence of an inflection point from the estimated waveform.
11 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine mitral valve regurgitation by at least determining the estimated waveform does not include an inflection point.
12 . The device of claim 9 , wherein to generate the estimated waveform based on the data from the implantable pump, the processing circuitry is configured to determine the estimated waveform based on a current supplied to the implantable pump.
13 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to control the implantable pump based on a slope of the estimated waveform between an end period of diastole and a beginning period of systole.
14 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to periodically determine the estimated waveform amplitude of estimated blood flow between an end period of diastole and a beginning period of systole.
15 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the implantable pump is electrically coupled to at least one from the group comprising an implanted controller and an external controller.
16 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the implantable pump is one or more of a blood pump, a sensorless pump, a sensorless blood pump, a ventricular assist device and a centrifugal pump.
17 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the generated alert includes a prompt to adjust the speed of the implantable blood pump.
18 . A device comprising: processing circuitry configured to:
generate an estimated blood flow waveform based on data from a blood pump; and
determine mitral valve regurgitation and generate an alert from the device based upon absence of an inflection point from the estimated blood flow waveform amplitude.
19 . The device of claim 18 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine the estimated blood flow waveform based on a current supplied to the blood pump.
20 . The device of claim 18 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to control the blood pump based on a slope of the estimated blood flow waveform between an end period of diastole and a beginning period of systole.
