Abstract

A prosthetic heart includes a frame, a plurality of valve leaflets, and a sealing material. The frame includes interconnected strut members with commissure struts. The leaflets are coupled to the frame and configured to allow one-way flow of blood through the prosthetic heart valve. Adjacent pairs of leaflets are coupled together at a respective set of commissure struts. The seal material is coupled to the frame and includes commissure extensions corresponding to the sets of commissure struts of the frame, wherein each commissure extension includes at least one first tab and at least one second tab configured to wrap around one set of commissure struts.

Claims (27)

1 - 21 . (canceled)

22 . A prosthetic heart valve comprising:

a frame comprising a plurality of interconnected strut members, wherein the interconnected strut members include sets of commissure struts;

a plurality of valve leaflets coupled to the plurality of interconnected strut members of the frame and configured to allow one-way flow of blood through the prosthetic heart valve, wherein adjacent pairs of leaflets are coupled together at a respective set of commissure struts; and

a seal material coupled to the frame and comprising a plurality of commissure extensions corresponding to the sets of commissure struts of the frame, wherein each commissure extension of the plurality of commissure extensions comprises at least one first tab and at least one second tab configured to wrap around one set of the sets of commissure struts, the at least one first tab is longer in a circumferential direction than the at least one second tab, the at least one second tab being spaced apart from the at least one first tab in an axial direction corresponding to a blood flow direction of the prosthetic heart valve.

23 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein the at least one second tab is disposed closer to an outflow end of the prosthetic heart valve than the at least one first tab.

24 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein each commissure extension comprises a neck region axially disposed between the at least one first tab and the at least one second tab, and wherein the neck region is shorter in the circumferential direction than the at least one second tab.

25 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein the at least one first tab has a rectangular shape.

26 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein the at least one second tab has an ovular shape.

27 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein the at least one first tab or the at least one second tab comprise a half-trapezoidal shape.

28 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , wherein the at least one first tab and the at least one second tab comprise a half-trapezoidal shape.

29 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 22 , the seal material further comprises a base extending from the plurality of commissure extensions, wherein the base comprises an undulating shape.

30 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 29 , wherein the plurality of commissure extensions and the base are sutured to the frame.

31 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 29 , wherein the plurality of commissure extensions is sutured to the frame, and the base of the sealing material is unattached to the frame.

32 . A prosthetic heart valve comprising:

a frame comprising a plurality of interconnected strut members, wherein the interconnected strut members include sets of commissure struts;

a plurality of valve leaflets coupled to the plurality of interconnected strut members of the frame and configured to allow one-way flow of blood through the prosthetic heart valve, each leaflet comprising a cusp edge, a free edge, and two commissure tabs, wherein adjacent pairs of leaflets are coupled together by their commissure tabs at a respective set of commissure struts; and

a seal material coupled to the frame and comprising a base and a plurality of commissure extensions, wherein the base of the sealing material is configured for securing the cusp edge of each leaflet to the frame, and wherein each commissure extension of the plurality of commissure extensions is configured for securing the commissure tabs of adjacent pairs of leaflet to the frame, wherein each commissure extension comprises two first tabs and two second tabs, the first tabs are longer in a circumferential direction than the second tabs, the second tabs are spaced apart from the first tabs in an axial direction corresponding to a blood flow direction of the prosthetic heart valve.

33 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 32 , wherein the second tabs are disposed closer to an outflow end of the prosthetic heart valve than the first tabs.

34 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 33 , wherein each commissure extension comprises a neck region axially disposed between the first tabs and the second tabs, and wherein the neck region is shorter in the circumferential direction than the second tabs.

35 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 34 , wherein the first tabs have a rectangular shape.

36 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 35 , wherein the second tabs have an ovular shape.

37 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 34 , wherein the first tabs or the second tabs comprise a trapezoidal shape.

38 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 34 , wherein the first tabs and the second tabs comprise a trapezoidal shape.

39 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 34 , wherein the base comprises an undulating shape.

40 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 32 , wherein the plurality of commissure extensions and the base are sutured to the frame.

41 . The prosthetic heart valve of claim 32 , wherein the plurality of interconnected strut members is coupled together with rivets.
