Abstract

An ophthalmic lens incorporating an array of microlenses.

Claims (19)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . An ophthalmic spectacle lens comprising:

a base lens substrate having a front side and a back side;

the substrate having a substrate curve for refracting a light ray;

a plurality of lithography-formed microlenses disposed on the substrate;

each of the lithography-formed microlenses having a static microlens curve refracting a principle light ray in a desired direction;

the static microlens curve of at least one of the plurality of lithography-formed microlenses being different than the substrate curve of the substrate.

22 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are additive lithography-formed microlenses.

23 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are subtractive lithography-formed microlenses.

24 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are a combination of additive and subtractive lithography-formed microlenses.

25 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are photolithography-formed microlenses.

26 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are optical lithography-formed microlenses.

27 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are ultraviolet light lithography-formed microlenses.

28 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are disposed on a thin film incorporated into the substrate.

29 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are disposed on a thin film laminate incorporated into the substrate.

30 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein substrate is comprised of a plastic bulk material.

31 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 31 , wherein substrate is comprised of polycarbonate.

32 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are disposed on the front side of the substrate.

33 . The ophthalmic spectacle lens of claim 21 , wherein the lithography-formed microlenses are disposed on the back side of the substrate.
