Abstract

Preference data is received. The received preference data is compared to stored preference data associated with a user with which the received preference data is associated. A determination is made whether to authorize an action based at least on the comparison. The preference data is received as a selection.

Claims (17)

1. A system that operatively utilizes a computer-readable tamper-evident log to manage an action to be performed by at least one computing device, the tamper-evident log accessible via a network interface that is communicatively coupled to a communications network, the system comprising:

a hardware-based processor operatively configured to:

before the action is allowed to be performed, update the tamper-evident log by appending information about the action to the tamper-evident log, the information corresponding to an attestation value that was computed using a cryptographic digital signature function, the attestation value based at least in part on the action to be performed;

after determining that a predetermined time has elapsed, associate the tamper-evident log with a final attestation value, the final attestation value based on a time and date that the final attestation value was computed; and

cause transmission of at least a portion of the tamper-evident log, the attestation value, a nonce, and the final attestation value.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is operatively configured to generate the final attestation value.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the action is a transaction.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the action is an interaction.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the action is associated with a state change being made.

6. A method for operatively utilizing a computer-readable tamper-evident log to manage an action to be performed by at least one computing device, the tamper-evident log accessible via a network interface that is communicatively coupled to a communications network, the method comprising:

before the action is allowed to be performed, updating the tamper-evident log by appending information about the action to the tamper-evident log, the information corresponding to an attestation value that was computed using a cryptographic digital signature function, the attestation value based at least in part on the action to be performed;

after determining that a predetermined time has elapsed, associate the tamper-evident log with a final attestation value, the final attestation value based on a time and date that the final attestation value was computed; and

transmitting at least a portion of the tamper-evident log, the attestation value, a nonce, and the final attestation value.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the action is a transaction.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the action is an interaction.

9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the attestation value is based, at least in part, on information that identifies a client.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the action is associated with a state change being made.
