METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING AN EXECUTION TIME OF RAMDOM ACCESS RESOURCE SELECTION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
A method and user equipment (UE) configured for performing the method are disclosed. The UE is configured to, in response to a random access process not being completed, select a second random access resource group, associated with an execution time. The UE is configured to transmit a preamble based on the second random access resource group. The execution time is related to whether a first condition set is satisfied. If the first condition set is satisfied, the execution time is no later than a backoff time. If the first condition set is not satisfied, the execution time is no earlier than the backoff time. The first condition set is related to the second random access resource group. The second random access resource group includes a plurality of air interface resources.
1 . A user equipment (UE) configured for wireless communication, the UE comprising:
a transmitter; and
a processor, wherein:
processor is configured to, in response to a random access process not being completed, select a second random access resource group, associated with an execution time; and
the transmitter is configured to transmit a preamble based on the second random access resource group,
wherein the execution time is related to whether a first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the first condition set is satisfied, the execution time is no later than a backoff time, wherein if the first condition set is not satisfied, the execution time is no earlier than the backoff time, wherein the first condition set is related to the second random access resource group, and wherein the second random access resource group includes a plurality of air interface resources.
2 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein
the processor is configured to, if the first condition set is satisfied during a period of the backoff time perform a first random access resource selection process after the first condition set is satisfied, and if the first condition set is not satisfied during the period of the backoff time, perform the first random access resource selection process after the period of the backoff time, and wherein the first random access resource selection process comprises selecting the second random access resource group.
3 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein:
the processor is configured to, in response to the random access process not being completed, determine the backoff time before selecting the second random access resource group.
4 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein the UE further comprises a receiver, wherein:
the transmitter is configured to, during the random access process, transmit a preamble according to a first random access resource group; and
the receiver is configured to, in response to transmitting the preamble according to the first random access resource group, receive a medium access control (MAC) sub protocol data unit (subPDU), wherein the MAC subPDU indicates a backoff parameter value, wherein the backoff time depends on the backoff parameter value, and wherein the first random access resource group air includes a plurality of interface resources.

The UE of claim 4 , wherein if at least a number of the plurality of air interface resources of the first random access resource group is greater than a first threshold and a number of the plurality of air interface resources of the second random access resource group is greater than the first threshold, the first condition set is satisfied and if the number of the plurality of air interface resources of the first random access resource group is smaller than the first threshold and the number of the plurality of air interface resources of the second random access resource group is smaller than the first threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied and wherein the first threshold is configurable or determined by default.

The UE of claim 1 , wherein if at least a counter reaches a second threshold, the first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the first counter does not reach the second threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied, wherein the counter is used to determine a number of transmission of the preamble, and wherein the second threshold is configurable.

The UE of claim 1 , wherein if at least a first measurement result is higher than a third threshold, the first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the first measurement result is lower than the third threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied, and wherein the third threshold is configurable.

11 . A method for use in user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
selecting, in response to a random access process not being completed, a second random access resource group, associated with an execution time; and
transmitting a preamble based on the second random access resource group, wherein the execution time is related to whether a first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the first condition set is satisfied, the execution time is no later than a backoff time, wherein if the first condition set is not satisfied, the execution time is no earlier than the backoff time, wherein the first condition set is related to the second random access resource group, and wherein the second random access resource group includes a plurality of air interface resources.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
performing, if the first condition set is satisfied during a period of the backoff time, a first random access resource selection process after the first condition set is satisfied; and
performing, if the first condition set is not satisfied during the period of the backoff time, the first random access resource selection process after the period of the backoff time, wherein the first random access resource selection process comprises selecting the second random access resource group.
13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
determining, in response to the random access process not being completed, the backoff time before selecting the second random access resource group.
14 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
transmitting, during the random access process, a preamble according to a first random access resource group; and
receiving, in response to transmitting the preamble according to the first random access resource group, a medium access control (MAC) sub protocol data unit (subPDU), wherein the MAC subPDU indicates a first backoff parameter value, wherein the backoff time depends on the first backoff parameter value, and wherein the first random access resource group includes a plurality of interface resources.

The method of claim 14 , wherein if at least a number of the plurality of air interface resources of the first random access resource group is greater than a first threshold and a number of the plurality of air interface resources of the second random access resource group is greater than the first threshold, the first condition set is satisfied and if the number of the plurality of air interface resources of the first random access resource group is smaller than the first threshold and the number of the plurality of air interface resources of the second random access resource group is smaller than the first threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied and wherein the first threshold is configurable or determined by default.

The method of claim 11 , wherein if at least a counter reaches a second threshold, the first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the counter does not reach the second threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied, wherein the counter is used to determine a number of transmission of the preamble, and wherein the second threshold is configurable.

The method of claim 11 , wherein if at least a first measurement result is higher than a third threshold, the first condition set is satisfied, wherein if the first measurement result is lower than the third threshold, the first condition set is not satisfied, and wherein the third threshold is configurable.
18 . A base station, comprising:
a receiver configured to receive a preamble that is transmitted according to a second random access resource group,
wherein in response to a first random access process not being completed, the second random access resource group is selected, if a first condition set is satisfied, wherein an execution time of selecting the second random access resource group is no later than a backoff time, if the first condition set is not satisfied, the execution time of selecting the second random access resource group is no earlier than the backoff time, the first condition set is related to the second random access resource group, and the second random access resource group includes a plurality of air interface resources.
19 . A method for use in a base station, the method comprising:
receiving a preamble that is transmitted according to a second random access resource group,
wherein in response to a first random access process not being completed, the second random access resource group is selected, if a first condition set is satisfied, wherein an execution time of the selection of the second random access resource group is no later than a backoff time, if the first condition set is not satisfied, the execution time of the selection of the second random access resource group is no earlier than the backoff time, the first condition set is related to the second random access resource group, and the second random access resource group includes a plurality of air interface resources.
