Abstract

Described herein, inter alia, is a concentrate including a high ionic strength liquid and a microfibrillated cellulose, and methods of making the same.

Claims (28)

27 . A kit comprising:

a mix-ready adjuvant composition comprising:

0.01% by weight to 5.0% by weight of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC); and

a liquid carrier,

wherein the mix-ready adjuvant composition is formed by subjecting the MFC, the liquid carrier, and the surfactant or dispersant to shear conditions comprising shearing the adjuvant composition using high shear conditions; and

instructions for mixing a fertilizer or high ionic strength solution with the adjuvant, wherein the high ionic strength solution comprises at least 5% saturation of a functional ion.

28 . The kit of claim 27 , wherein the adjuvant composition further comprises a surfactant or dispersant.

29 . The kit of claim 27 , wherein the MFC is chemically unmodified.

30 . The kit of claim 27 , wherein the adjuvant composition further comprises an agriculturally active ingredient.

31 . The kit of claim 30 , wherein the agriculturally active ingredient comprises at least one of a pesticide, a bactericide, an algaecide, a nematicide, a fungicide, a larvicide, an insecticide, an herbicide, an herbicide safener, a plant growth regulator, a plant activator, a synergist, an acaricide, a molluscicide, a repellant, a biostimulant, and a micronutrient.

32 . The kit of claim 30 , wherein the agriculturally active ingredient is selected from glufosinate, glyphosate, and 2,4 D, or Dicamba.

33 . The kit of claim 30 , wherein the agriculturally active ingredient is present in a particulate form.

34 . The kit of claim 33 , wherein the particulate is a capsule suspension comprising an agriculturally active ingredient.

35 . The kit of claim 33 , wherein the particulate is a solid particle comprising an agriculturally active ingredient.

36 . The kit of claim 27 , wherein the MFC is derived from plant material.

37 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having a concentration of at least about 10% of saturation level.

38 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having a concentration of at least about 20% of saturation level.

39 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having a concentration of at least about 50% of saturation level.

40 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having a concentration at about 100% of saturation level.

41 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having a concentration above 100% of the saturation level and undissolved material is suspended in the composition.

42 . A kit comprising:

a composition consisting essentially of a microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in an aqueous medium of glufosinate, glyphosate, 2, 4, D, or Dicamba, along with instructions for tank mixing the composition,

wherein the composition is formed by subjecting the MFC to shear conditions comprising shearing the adjuvant composition using high shear conditions

43 . The kit of claim 42 , wherein the instructions further comprise a step of adding the composition to a fertilizer or high ionic strength medium.

44 . The kit of claim 42 , wherein the MFC is chemically unmodified.

45 . The kit of claim 42 , wherein the MFC comprises at least 60 bifurcated ends of fibrils per mm 2, as measured with an optical light microscope at a magnification of 40 times and as measured at a solids content of 0.17% of microfibrillated cellulose in water.

46 . The kit of claim 42 , wherein the high ionic strength of the medium is provided by one or more ions having at a concentration of at least about 20% of saturation level.
