Abstract

Systems, apparatus, and methods for providing a consumer device presence-based transaction sessions are discussed herein. Some embodiments may provide for an apparatus configured to establish consumer device presence-based transaction sessions. The apparatus and consumer device may wirelessly communicate for a variety interactions within the transaction session. For example, consumers may be allowed to provide one or more instances of consumer approval data for payment. The transaction session may be closed upon receipt of consumer approval data or may be kept open based on wirelessly polling for consumer device presence. Based on the lack of consumer device presence, the apparatus may be configured to close the transaction session and subsequently facilitate a transaction. In various embodiments, the apparatus may be a merchant device or a server. For example, the apparatus may be a server of a central system configured to facilitate transaction sessions between merchant devices and consumer devices.

Claims (54)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . An apparatus comprising a processor and a non-transitory memory storing program instructions, wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

receive at least one transaction session initiation request associated with a consumer device;

determine a merchant proximity score associated with a merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the merchant proximity score is based on one or more polling requests that are (i) initiated by the merchant device and (ii) associated with the consumer device; and

responsive to determining that the merchant proximity score exceeds a threshold, establish a transaction session between the merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the transaction session enables communication between the merchant device and the consumer device.

22 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

associate a set of consumer identifying data with the transaction session.

23 . The apparatus of claim 22 , wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

generate wallet identifying data for secured data transfers, wherein the wallet identifying data is generated based on one of a random code, a random token, or a random key;

associate the wallet identifying data with the set of consumer identifying data; and

store the wallet identifying data.

24 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

receive a validation request associated with wallet identifying data received from the consumer device; and

validate a consumer device user profile associated with the consumer device by comparing the wallet identifying data received from the consumer device with stored wallet identifying data.

25 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

cause transmitting the one or more polling requests through one or more communication beacons, wherein each of the one or more communication beacons is located approximate a corresponding merchant location associated with the merchant device.

26 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the non-transitory memory and the program instructions are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

determine the merchant proximity score based at least in part on determining whether the consumer device is located within a communicable range for a direct wireless connection with the merchant device.

27 . The apparatus of claim 26 , wherein the communicable range is associated with a personal area network.

28 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving at least one transaction session initiation request associated with a consumer device;

determining a merchant proximity score associated with a merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the merchant proximity score is based on one or more polling requests that are (i) initiated by the merchant device and (ii) associated with the consumer device; and

responsive to determining that the merchant proximity score exceeds a threshold, establishing a transaction session between the merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the transaction session enables communication between the merchant device and the consumer device.

29 . The computer-implemented method of claim 28 , further comprising:

associating a set of consumer identifying data with the transaction session.

30 . The computer-implemented method of claim 29 , further comprising:

generating wallet identifying data for secured data transfers, wherein the wallet identifying data is generated based on one of a random code, a random token, or a random key;

associating the wallet identifying data with the set of consumer identifying data; and

storing the wallet identifying data.

31 . The computer-implemented method of claim 28 , further comprising:

receiving a validation request associated with wallet identifying data received from the consumer device; and

validating a consumer device user profile associated with the consumer device by comparing the wallet identifying data received from the consumer device with stored wallet identifying data.

32 . The computer-implemented method of claim 28 , further comprising:

causing transmitting the one or more polling requests through one or more communication beacons, wherein each of the one or more communication beacons is located approximate a corresponding merchant location associated with the merchant device.

33 . The computer-implemented method of claim 28 , further comprising:

determining the merchant proximity score based at least in part on determining whether the consumer device is located within a communicable range for a direct wireless connection with the merchant device.

34 . The computer-implemented method of claim 33 , wherein the communicable range is associated with a personal area network.

35 . A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising an executable portion configured to:

receive at least one transaction session initiation request associated with a consumer device;

determine a merchant proximity score associated with a merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the merchant proximity score is based on one or more polling requests that are (i) initiated by the merchant device and (ii) associated with the consumer device; and

responsive to determining that the merchant proximity score exceeds a threshold, establish a transaction session between the merchant device and the consumer device, wherein the transaction session enables communication between the merchant device and the consumer device.

36 . The computer program product of claim 35 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions comprise the executable portion configured to:

associate a set of consumer identifying data with the transaction session.

37 . The computer program product of claim 36 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions comprise the executable portion configured to:

generate wallet identifying data for secured data transfers, wherein the wallet identifying data is generated based on one of a random code, a random token, or a random key;

associate the wallet identifying data with the set of consumer identifying data; and

store the wallet identifying data.

38 . The computer program product of claim 35 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions comprise the executable portion configured to:

receive a validation request associated with wallet identifying data received from the consumer device; and

validate a consumer device user profile associated with the consumer device by comparing the wallet identifying data received from the consumer device with stored wallet identifying data.

39 . The computer program product of claim 35 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions comprise the executable portion configured to:

cause transmitting the one or more polling requests through one or more communication beacons, wherein each of the one or more communication beacons is located approximate a corresponding merchant location associated with the merchant device.

40 . The computer program product of claim 35 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions comprise the executable portion configured to:

determine the merchant proximity score based at least in part on determining whether the consumer device is located within a communicable range for a direct wireless connection with the merchant device.
