Abstract

A system and method for creating hybrid cluster deployments are disclosed. The system includes a first framework having a software networking layer, the first framework including a container network interface for accessing a client run on a pod of the first framework. A second framework has a head node and one or more working nodes configured in a cluster. A secure connection between the client in the first framework and the head node in the second framework. The secure connection configured to communicate requests from the client to the head node.

Claims (35)

1 . A system, comprising:

a first framework having a software networking layer, the first framework including a container network interface for accessing a client run on a pod of the first framework;

a second framework having a head node and one or more working nodes configured in a cluster; and

a secure connection between the client in the first framework and the head node in the second framework, the secure connection configured to communicate requests from the client to the head node.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second framework does not have a software networking layer.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the second framework is Slurm.

4 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising at least one processor configured to access a storage from the one or more working nodes of the second framework and pass data from the storage to the client in the first framework via the secure connection.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first framework is Kubernetes.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the secure connection is ssh.

7 . A system, comprising:

at least one processor adapted to:

configure one or more pods in a first framework having a software networking layer;

configure one or more nodes in a second framework;

create a client in at least one of the one or more pods of the first framework; and

connect via a secure connection the client in the first framework to the one or more nodes in the second framework.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the second framework does not have a software networking layer.

9 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the one or more nodes includes a head node and one or more worker nodes with access to a storage, wherein requests from the client for data from the storage are passed from the head node to the one or more worker nodes.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to access the storage via the one or more worker nodes and forward the data to the client in the first framework via the secure connection.

11 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the first framework has a container network interface for accessing the client in the first framework, via which a user is provided access to the one or more nodes in the second framework.

12 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the secure connection is ssh.

13 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the first framework is Kubernetes.

14 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the second framework is Slurm.

15 . A method, comprising:

creating one or more pods in a first framework that has a software networking layer;

configuring one or more nodes in a second framework, wherein the second framework does not have a software networking layer;

creating a client in in at least one of the one or more pods of the first framework; and

providing a secure connection from the client in the first framework to the one or more nodes in the second framework.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein configuring the one or more nodes includes creating a head node and one or more worker nodes with access to a storage, wherein the secure connection is provided between the head node in the second framework and the client in the first framework.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising accessing the storage from the one or more working nodes of the second framework and passing data from the storage to the client in the first framework via the secure connection.

18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more pods in the first framework and created and allocated based on resources allocated in a distributed computing network, wherein the resources include one or more of a number of CPUs and/or GPUs, storage, and memory.

19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein at least one of:

the first framework is Kubernetes;

the second framework is Slurm; and

the secure connection is ssh.

20 . A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium storing instructions executable by a processor of a computational device, which when executed cause the computational device to perform the method of claim 15 .
