Abstract

The present disclosure provides a bracket assembly for securing a photovoltaic (PV) module. The bracket assembly may include a bracket having a top portion and a bottom surface and a clip coupled to the bracket. The clip may include a hooked portion, wherein the clip is configured to be displaced by a PV module from a first position to a second position. The clip may be biased toward the first position, and the hooked portion may be configured to engage an edge feature of the PV module.

Claims (36)

1 . A junction box comprising:

a housing including:

a base having an aperture,

one or more sidewalls extending from the base, and

an interior cavity defined at least in part by the base and the one or more sidewalls,

the interior cavity to receive one or more electrical connections;

a lid securable to the housing;

a bracket to attach the housing to a rail, the bracket including a flange disposable adjacent to the base, external to the interior cavity; and

a fastener to secure the bracket to the housing, the fastener being disposable at least partially through the aperture, at least partially through the flange, and at least partially in the interior cavity, the fastener electrically bonding the one or more electrical connections to the rail.

2 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein:

the bracket further includes:

a second flange disposable adjacent to a first surface of the rail, and

a third flange disposable adjacent to a second surface of the rail;

the flange extends from the third flange; and

the third flange extends from the second flange.

3 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the bracket is engageable with a channel of the rail.

4 . The junction box of claim 1 , further comprising a fastener to attach the lid to the housing.

5 . An assembly comprising:

a junction box including:

a housing having a top and a bottom, and

a lid securable to the top of the housing;

a bracket including:

a first portion engageable with a rail that supports one or more solar panel modules,

a second portion extending from the first portion, and

a third portion extending from the second portion, the third portion engageable with the bottom of the housing; and

a fastener at least partially disposed in the housing, the fastener creating a bonding pathway between one or more electrical connections disposed within the junction box and the rail.

6 . The assembly of claim 5 , wherein the first portion includes one or more flanges engageable with a channel of the rail.

7 . The assembly of claim 5 , wherein the fastener secures the junction box to the bracket.

8 . The assembly of claim 5 , wherein the fastener is disposed at least partially through the third portion of the bracket.

9 . The assembly of claim 5 , wherein the housing includes:

a base;

one or more sidewalls extending from the base; and

an interior cavity defined at least in part by the base and the one or more sidewalls.

10 . The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the fastener is disposed at least partially through the base and at least partially through the third portion to secure the housing to the bracket.

11 . The assembly of claim 5 , wherein the bracket electrically bonds the one or more electrical connections to the rail.

12 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein the bracket includes one or more flanges engageable with a channel of the rail.
