EROSION AND SEDIMENT AND POLLUTION CONTROL PRODUCTS USING RICE HULLS
A sediment and pollution control product includes an erosion, sediment and pollution control product filler material, wherein the filler material includes rice hulls and a performance improving material including at least one of i) a carbon material processed to increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions, ii) peat fibers, iii) kenef material and iv) a aluminosilicate mineral; and a tubular mesh member geotextile containing the filler material, wherein the tubular mesh member exhibits a fabric flow test of at least 100 Gallons per minute based upon permittivity test results in a ASTM 4491 type C testing protocol, wherein the filled tubular mesh member and filler material is configured to allow fluid to flow through the mesh member and the filler material.
1 . A sediment and pollution control product comprising:
an erosion, sediment and pollution control product filler material, wherein the filler material includes rice hulls and a performance improving material including at least one of i) a carbon material processed to increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions, ii) peat fibers, iii) kenef material and iv) a aluminosilicate mineral; and
a tubular mesh member geotextile containing the filler material, wherein the tubular mesh member exhibits a fabric flow test of at least 100 Gallons per minute based upon permittivity test results in a ASTM 4491 type C testing protocol, wherein the filled tubular mesh member and filler material is configured to allow fluid to flow through the mesh member and the filler material.
2 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 1 , wherein the performance improving material includes kenaf material including kenaf core fibers.
3 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 1 , wherein the kenaf material includes kenaf core fibers.
4 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 1 , wherein the performance improving material includes a carbon material processed to increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions in the form of activated carbon.
5 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 4 , wherein the activated carbon is formed from coconut shells.
6 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 1 , wherein the performance improving material includes peat fibers.
7 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 6 , wherein the peat fibers are provided within granular reed-sedge peat.
8 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 1 , wherein the performance improving material includes aluminosilicate mineral.
9 . The sediment and pollution control product according to claim 8 , wherein the aluminosilicate mineral is formed as zeolite.
10 . A compost filter sock comprising:
A tubular mesh netting member; and
product filler material contained within the netting member, wherein the filler material includes rice hulls and a clarifying material including at least one of i) zeolite, ii) kenaf material, iii) activated carbon and iv) a peat derivative, wherein the netting member and product filler material contained therein is configured to allow fluid to flow through the netting member and the filler material.
11 . The compost filter sock of claim 10 , wherein the clarifying material includes zeolite.
12 . The compost filter sock of claim 10 , wherein the clarifying material includes kenaf material.
13 . The compost filter sock of claim 10 , wherein the clarifying material includes activated carbon.
14 . The compost filter sock of claim 10 , wherein the clarifying material includes a peat derivative.
15 . A compost filter sock comprising:
A tubular mesh netting member; and
product filler material contained within the netting member, wherein the filler material includes rice hulls treated to increase sterility of the filler material and a fiber material, wherein the netting member and product filler material contained therein is configured to allow fluid to flow through the netting member and the filler material.
16 . The compost filter sock of claim 15 wherein the fiber material includes kenaf material.
17 . The compost filter sock of claim 15 wherein the fiber material includes peat fibers.
18 . The compost filter sock of claim 15 wherein the fiber material includes coconut shell derivative.
19 . The compost filter sock of claim 18 wherein the coconut shell derivative is activated carbon.
20 . The compost filter sock of claim 15 wherein the tubular mesh netting member exhibits a fabric flow test of at least 100 Gallons per minute based upon permittivity test results in a ASTM 4491 type C testing protocol.
