Carrier Grouping in Multicarrier Wireless Networks
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for wireless communications. Cells may be grouped into a plurality of cell groups. A base station may transmit a control message to modify a cell group of a cell associated with a wireless device.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a wireless device at least one control message configured to change grouping of a cell of a plurality of cells that are grouped into a plurality of cell groups, wherein uplink transmission timing of each cell group of the plurality of cell groups is based on one cell in that cell group, and wherein the at least one control message comprises, based on the cell of the plurality of cells being a primary cell, mobility control information; and
communicating via the cell.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first base station to a second base station.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first sector of a base station to a second sector of the base station.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from a base station, a timer value for a time alignment timer for each of the plurality of cell groups.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the control message comprises a radio resource control connection reconfiguration message.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a second control message, wherein the second control message does not comprise mobility control information, and wherein the second control message is configured to explicitly release a secondary cell as part of a cell grouping modification for the secondary cell.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the primary cell from a first cell group to a second cell group, and wherein the communicating via the cell comprises communicating via the primary cell as part of the second cell group.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the first cell group comprises a first one or more secondary cells and the second cell group comprises a second one or more secondary cells.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the control message does not comprise an information element releasing the cell.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the cell while maintaining the cell as a primary cell.
11 . A wireless device comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:
receive at least one control message configured to change grouping of a cell of a plurality of cells that are grouped into a plurality of cell groups, wherein uplink transmission timing of each cell group of the plurality of cell groups is based on one cell in that cell group, and wherein the at least one control message comprises, based on the cell of the plurality of cells being a primary cell, mobility control information; and
communicate via the cell.
12 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first base station to a second base station.
13 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first sector of a base station to a second sector of the base station.
14 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive, from a base station, a timer value for a time alignment timer for each of the plurality of cell groups.
15 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the control message comprises a radio resource control connection reconfiguration message.
16 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive a second control message, wherein the second control message does not comprise mobility control information, and wherein the second control message is configured to explicitly release a secondary cell as part of a cell grouping modification for the secondary cell.
17 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the primary cell from a first cell group to a second cell group, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to communicate via the cell by communicating via the primary cell as part of the second cell group.
18 . The wireless device of claim 17 , wherein the first cell group comprises a first one or more secondary cells and the second cell group comprises a second one or more secondary cells.
19 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the control message does not comprise an information element releasing the cell.
20 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the cell while maintaining the cell as a primary cell.
21 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a wireless device to:
receive at least one control message configured to change grouping of a cell of a plurality of cells that are grouped into a plurality of cell groups, wherein uplink transmission timing of each cell group of the plurality of cell groups is based on one cell in that cell group, and wherein the at least one control message comprises, based on the cell of the plurality of cells being a primary cell, mobility control information; and
communicate via the cell.
22 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first base station to a second base station.
23 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the at least one control message is associated with a handover of the wireless device from a first sector of a base station to a second sector of the base station.
24 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to receive, from a base station, a timer value for a time alignment timer for each of the plurality of cell groups.
25 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the control message comprises a radio resource control connection reconfiguration message.
26 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to receive a second control message, wherein the second control message does not comprise mobility control information, and wherein the second control message is configured to explicitly release a secondary cell as part of a cell grouping modification for the secondary cell.
27 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the primary cell from a first cell group to a second cell group, and wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to communicate via the cell by communicating via the primary cell as part of the second cell group.
28 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 27 , wherein the first cell group comprises a first one or more secondary cells and the second cell group comprises a second one or more secondary cells.
29 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the control message does not comprise an information element releasing the cell.
30 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 21 , wherein the at least one control message is configured to change the grouping of the cell while maintaining the cell as a primary cell.
