Pedestals Configured To Support Base Stations For Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
A docking system for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The docking system includes a base station, which is configured to receive the UAV, and a pedestal, which includes an upper wall that is configured to support the base station in an elevated position such that the base station is positioned atop and externally of the pedestal.
1 . A docking system for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the docking system comprising:
a base station configured to receive the UAV; and
a pedestal including an upper wall configured to support the base station in an elevated position such that the base station is positioned atop and externally of the pedestal.
2 . The docking system of claim 1 , wherein the pedestal includes a fixed configuration.
3 . The docking system of claim 1 , wherein the pedestal includes an open configuration.
4 . The docking system of claim 3 , wherein the pedestal includes:
an open front end; and
an open rear end.
5 . The docking system of claim 1 , wherein the base station and the pedestal include corresponding engagement structures configured for releasable engagement to inhibit unintended separation of the base station and the pedestal.
6 . The docking system of claim 1 , wherein the pedestal further includes:
side walls extending from the upper wall; and
base walls extending from the side walls.
7 . The docking system of claim 6 , wherein the side walls extend in non-orthogonal relation to the upper wall.
8 . The docking system of claim 7 , wherein the side walls and the upper wall define obtuse angles therebetween.
9 . The docking system of claim 8 , wherein the side walls extend in non-orthogonal relation to the base walls.
10 . The docking system of claim 9 , wherein the side walls and the base walls define acute angles therebetween.
11 . A docking system for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the docking system comprising:
a base station configured to receive the UAV; and
a pedestal configured to support the base station in an elevated position, wherein the pedestal includes an open, fixed configuration.
12 . The docking system of claim 11 , wherein the pedestal is formed form a single piece of material.
13 . The docking system of claim 11 , wherein the pedestal includes:
an open front end; and
an open rear end.
14 . The docking system of claim 11 , wherein the pedestal includes:
an upper wall configured to support the base station;
side walls extending from the upper wall; and
base walls extending from the side walls.
15 . The docking system of claim 14 , wherein the side walls extend in non-orthogonal relation to the upper wall and the base walls.
16 . The docking system of claim 15 , wherein the side walls and the upper wall define obtuse angles therebetween.
17 . The docking system of claim 16 , wherein the side walls and the base walls define acute angles therebetween.
18 . A pedestal configured to support a single base station for a UAV in an elevated position.
19 . The pedestal of claim 18 , wherein the pedestal includes an open, fixed configuration.
20 . The pedestal of claim 19 , wherein the pedestal includes:
an open front end;
an open rear end; and
an exposed interior space extending between the open front end and the open rear end.
