Abstract

An exercise equipment comprising: a longitudinal beam having a beam longitudinal axis; an arm rotatably coupled, at least indirectly, to the longitudinal beam, the arm comprising a rotatable element being selectively rotatable about an arm rotation axis extending along a first direction transverse to the beam longitudinal axis; a locking mechanism connected, at least indirectly, to the longitudinal beam, the locking mechanism comprising: a locking base fixedly connected, at least indirectly, to the longitudinal beam; and a locking element at least indirectly pivotably coupled to the locking base, the locking element being pivotable between a locking position and an unlocking position about a pivot axis; and a lock controller operatively associated with the locking mechanism and operable for pivoting the locking element at least from the locking position to the unlocking position.

Claims (44)

1 . An exercise equipment comprising:

a frame having an access opening; and

a spool rotatably coupled to the frame, the spool having a spool internal volume defined at least partially by a spool wall operable for winding at least a segment of a cable thereon, the spool wall comprising a hole extending from an exterior side of the spool to the spool internal volume;

wherein the access opening is positioned to provide access to the exterior side of the spool, allowing a user to engage the end of the cable on the exterior side of the spool and to insert the end of the cable into the spool internal volume via the spool wall hole for anchoring the end of the cable to the spool,

wherein the exercise equipment further comprises a resistance source to which the spool is at least indirectly coupled, the resistance source being operable to apply resistance onto the cable, when the cable is anchored to the spool,

wherein the resistance source is operable to rotate the spool in a winding direction thereby causing the cable to wind onto the spool once the cable is anchored to the spool, and

wherein the cable, when pulled by a user against the resistance applied onto the cable by the resistance source, causes the spool to rotate in an unwinding direction, opposite the winding direction, and is unwound from the spool.

2 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , further comprising an arm which includes a shoulder portion at least indirectly coupled to the frame and a wrist portion opposite the shoulder portion.

3 . The exercise equipment of claim 2 , further comprising a cable path between the wrist portion and the spool, the cable path extending at least partially through an internal volume of the arm and an internal volume of the frame.

4 . The exercise equipment of claim 3 , further comprising at least one cable receiving opening in communication with at least one of the frame internal volume and the arm internal volume, the opening being accessible by a user for pushing therethrough an end of the cable.

5 . The exercise equipment of claim 2 , wherein the wrist portion is operable to at least indirectly connect thereto an exercise interface.

6 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the frame comprises a vertical, wall mountable beam.

7 . The exercise equipment of claim 6 , wherein the spool and the access opening are located at a lower portion of the vertical beam.

8 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the access opening is aligned with the exterior side of the spool.

9 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the frame comprises a removable faceplate which, when removed, allows manual access to the access opening of the frame.

10 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the resistance source includes an electronically adjustable weight resistance motor.

11 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the frame prevents access to at least a part of a cable path portion extending within an internal volume of the frame.

12 . The exercise equipment of claim 1 , wherein the spool includes a cylindrical body and wherein an outer surface of the spool wall comprises grooves for guiding the cable.

13 . A method for anchoring a cable to a spool in an exercise equipment, comprising:

removing a faceplate positioned on a frame of the exercise equipment;

through an access opening defined in the frame, manually accessing an end of the cable which had been inserted into the exercise equipment;

inserting the end of the cable into an internal volume of the spool through a hole defined in a wall of the spool;

anchoring the end of the cable to the spool; and

operating a resistance source operably coupled to the spool to rotate the spool in a winding direction, thereby causing the cable to wind onto the spool,

wherein the resistance source includes an electronically adjustable weight resistance motor.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein anchoring comprises tying a knot at the end of the cable, the knot being larger than the hole defined in the wall of the spool.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the frame comprises a vertical, wall mountable beam, and the spool and access opening are located at a lower portion of the vertical beam.

16 . An exercise equipment comprising:

a frame having an access opening; and

a spool rotatably coupled to the frame, the spool having a spool internal volume defined at least partially by a spool wall operable for winding at least a segment of a cable thereon, the spool wall comprising a hole extending from an exterior side of the spool to the spool internal volume,

wherein the access opening is positioned to provide access to the exterior side of the spool, allowing a user to engage the end of the cable on the exterior side of the spool and to insert the end of the cable into the spool internal volume via the spool wall hole for anchoring the end of the cable to the spool, and

wherein the exercise equipment further comprises an arm which includes a shoulder portion at least indirectly coupled to the frame, and a wrist portion opposite the shoulder portion.

17 . The exercise equipment of claim 16 , further comprising a cable path between the wrist portion and the spool, the cable path extending at least partially through an internal volume of the arm and an internal volume of the frame.

18 . An exercise equipment comprising:

a frame having an access opening, the frame comprising a vertical, wall mountable beam; and

a spool rotatably coupled to the frame, the spool having a spool internal volume defined at least partially by a spool wall operable for winding at least a segment of a cable thereon, the spool wall comprising a hole extending from an exterior side of the spool to the spool internal volume,

wherein the access opening is positioned to provide access to the exterior side of the spool, allowing a user to engage the end of the cable on the exterior side of the spool and to insert the end of the cable into the spool internal volume via the spool wall hole for anchoring the end of the cable to the spool.

19 . The exercise equipment of claim 18 , wherein the spool and the access opening are located at a lower portion of the vertical beam.

20 . A method for anchoring a cable to a spool in an exercise equipment, comprising:

removing a faceplate positioned on a frame of the exercise equipment;

through an access opening defined in the frame, manually accessing an end of the cable which had been inserted into the exercise equipment;

inserting the end of the cable into an internal volume of the spool through a hole defined in a wall of the spool; and

anchoring the end of the cable to the spool;

wherein the frame comprises a vertical, wall mountable beam, and the spool and access opening are located at a lower portion of the vertical beam.
