Abstract

The present invention provides a sunscreen composition comprising: (i) TiO 2 , (ii) ZnO, (iii) triacontanyl PVP, and (iv) VP/hexadecene copolymer, wherein the composition is an oil-in-water emulsion substantially free of low molecular weight, organic UV absorbers, the ratio of (iii):(iv) is less than one, and the composition provides an in vitro SPF as measured by the IN VITRO SPF TEST METHOD of at least 25. The composition is surprisingly low viscosity and provides a high SPF.

Claims (11)

1 .- 9 . (canceled)

10 . A sunscreen composition comprising:

(i) about 8% by weight TiO 2 ;

(ii) about 15% by weight ZnO;

(iii) about 1% by weight triacontanyl PVP;

(iv) about 2% by weight VP/hexadecene copolymer; and

(v) about 5% by weight glycerin;

wherein the composition is an oil-in-water emulsion substantially free of low molecular weight, organic UV absorbers.

11 . The sunscreen composition of claim 10 further comprising steareth-21, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate.

12 . The sunscreen composition of claim 10 further comprising phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin, ethylhexylglycerin and caprylyl glycol.

13 . The sunscreen composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition provides an in vitro SPF as measured by the IN VITRO SPF TEST METHOD of at least 25 and has a shear viscosity of less than 32 Pa·s at 1 s −1 at 25° C.
