Devices And Methods For Engaging Indexed Valve And Pressurized Canister Assembly With Collar And For Linear Actuation By Plunger Assembly Into Fluid Communication With Device For Regulating Drug Delivery
A valve assembly comprising a housing and a valve, the valve being disposed within the housing, a first indexed member integral to the housing, the first indexed member adapted to be complementary to a second indexed member, and a radio frequency identification device adapted to communicate with a radio frequency receiver, the valve being configured to align with a canister, seal the canister and open in a single movement. A drug containment device having said valve assembly is also disclosed.

11 . A valve assembly comprising:
a housing and a valve, the valve being disposed within the housing;
a first indexed member integral to the housing, the first indexed member adapted to be complementary to a second indexed member, wherein the first indexed member comprises a first arcuate opening and a second arcuate opening having at least one of different axial widths or misaligned mid-planes; and
an identification device adapted to communicate with an identification reader,
wherein the valve is configured to align with a canister, seal the canister and open in a single movement.
12 . The valve assembly of claim 11 , wherein the identification device is adapted to communicate to the identification reader identifying information of the contents of a canister that is attachable to the valve.
13 . The valve assembly of claim 11 , wherein the valve assembly is attachable to a canister comprising an active pharmaceutical ingredient including one of nitric oxide, with a concentration in the range of approximately 50 ppm to 10,000 ppm, carbon monoxide with a concentration in the range of approximately 500 ppm to 20,000 ppm, or, a chalcogenide compound and an inactive carrier gas comprising at least one of N 2 and O 2 .
14 . The valve assembly of claim 13 , wherein the first and second indexed members are predeterminately adapted to indicate the identity and canister concentration of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.
15 . The valve assembly of claim 11 , wherein the valve is linearly actuated.
16 . A drug containment device comprising the valve assembly of claim 11 and a cannister containing an active pharmaceutical ingredient.
17 . The drug containment device of claim 16 , wherein the identification device is adapted to communicate to the identification reader identifying information of the contents of the canister.
18 . The drug containment device of claim 16 , wherein the active ingredient comprises one of nitric oxide, with a concentration in the range of approximately 50 ppm to 10,000 ppm, carbon monoxide with a concentration in the range of approximately 500 ppm to 20,000 ppm, or, a chalcogenide compound and an inactive carrier gas comprising at least one of N 2 and O 2 .
19 . The drug containment device of claim 18 , wherein the first and second indexed members are predeterminately adapted to indicate the identity and canister concentration of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.
20 . The drug containment device of claim 16 , wherein the valve is linearly actuated.
21 . A valve assembly comprising:
a housing and a valve, the valve being disposed within the housing;
a first indexed member integral to the housing, the first indexed member adapted to be complementary to a second indexed member, wherein the first indexed member comprises a first arcuate opening and a second arcuate opening having at least one of different axial widths or misaligned mid-planes; and
means for transmitting identification information from the valve assembly to an identification reader;
wherein the valve is configured to align with a canister, seal the canister and open in a single movement.
22 . The valve assembly of claim 21 , wherein the identification information comprises identifying information of the contents of a canister that is attachable to the valve.
23 . The valve assembly of claim 21 , wherein the valve assembly is attachable to a canister comprising an active pharmaceutical ingredient including one of nitric oxide, with a concentration in the range of approximately 50 ppm to 10,000 ppm, carbon monoxide with a concentration in the range of approximately 500 ppm to 20,000 ppm, or, a chalcogenide compound and an inactive carrier gas comprising at least one of N 2 and O 2 .
24 . The valve assembly of claim 23 , wherein the first and second indexed members are predeterminately adapted to indicate the identity and canister concentration of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.
25 . The valve assembly of claim 21 , wherein the valve is linearly actuated.
26 . A drug containment device comprising the valve assembly of claim 21 and a cannister containing an active pharmaceutical ingredient.
27 . The drug containment device of claim 26 , wherein the identification information comprises identifying information of the contents of the canister.
28 . The drug containment device of claim 26 , wherein the active ingredient comprises one of nitric oxide, with a concentration in the range of approximately 50 ppm to 10,000 ppm, carbon monoxide with a concentration in the range of approximately 500 ppm to 20,000 ppm, or, a chalcogenide compound and an inactive carrier gas comprising at least one of N 2 and O 2 .
29 . The drug containment device of claim 28 , wherein the first and second indexed members are predeterminately adapted to indicate the identity and canister concentration of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.
30 . The drug containment device of claim 26 , wherein the valve is linearly actuated.
