THERAPEUTICS DIRECTED AGAINST CORONAVIRUS
This invention provides compositions and methods to treat, prevent, and diagnose viral infections. The methods provided herein involve administering polypeptides of the invention to a subject in need thereof. The viral infections can be caused by a coronavirus such as SARS-COV-1, SARS-COV-2 or a variant thereof. It is contemplated that the polypeptide can be further linked to a compound, wherein the compound extends the serum half-life of the polypeptide.
1 . A method for treating an infection caused by a coronavirus or a variant thereof, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition comprising at least two polypeptides, wherein:
(a) a first polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:1 or a functional fragment thereof, optionally linked to a serum half-life extending moiety selected from the group consisting of albumin, transferrin, Fc-portion of an antibody, or other half-life extending agents; and
(b) a second polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:2 or a functional fragment thereof, optionally linked to a serum half-life extending moiety.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered by any suitable route including oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, transdermal, inhalation, intranasal, or topical administration.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptides are administered simultaneously or sequentially.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptides are administered in a single composition or as separate compositions.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptides form a complex or associate non-covalently or covalently in vivo or in vitro.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptides are linked to one another via a linker.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the first polypeptide is albumin.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the first polypeptide is transferrin.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the first polypeptide is an Fc-portion of an antibody.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the second polypeptide is albumin.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the second polypeptide is transferrin.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the serum half-life extending moiety linked to the second polypeptide is an Fc-portion of an antibody.
