MULTICORE SHARED CACHE OPERATION ENGINE
Techniques for accessing memory by a memory controller, comprising receiving, by the memory controller, a memory management command to perform a memory management operation at a virtual memory address, translating the virtual memory address to a physical memory address, wherein the physical memory address comprises an address within a cache memory, and outputting an instruction to the cache memory based on the memory management command and the physical memory address.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving a memory management command associated with a memory management operation at a virtual memory address;
storing the memory management command;
configuring a first trigger control channel;
detecting a trigger event on the first trigger control channel; and
processing the memory management command in response to detecting the trigger event.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the memory management operation includes a transfer request or a cache request.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the memory management command includes receiving the memory management command, by a memory controller, over a system bus coupled to the memory controller and to a peripheral device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the memory management command is a write command to a register.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising translating the virtual memory address to a physical memory address within a cache memory.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the processing includes issuing an instruction to the cache memory to execute the memory management operation at the physical memory address.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising receiving a response to the instruction.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is formatted based on the memory management operation.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is formatted based on an interface that received the memory management command.
10 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
configuring a second trigger control channel; and
outputting a local event to the second trigger control channel based on the response.
11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving configuration information defining the trigger event and including an indication of a first interface;
receiving a memory access command via the first interface to perform a memory access operation.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising transmitting the memory access command to perform the memory access operation in response to detection of the trigger event.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first interface is coupled to a memory mapped register.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first interface includes a shared messaging interface.
15 . A system comprising:
an interface configurable to receive a memory management command associated with a memory management operation at a virtual memory address;
a buffer coupled to the interface and configurable to store the memory management command;
a trigger control channel; and
processing circuitry coupled to the buffer and configurable to:
configure a first trigger control channel;
detect a trigger event on the first trigger control channel; and
process the memory management command in response to detecting the trigger event.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the memory management operation includes a transfer request or a cache request.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the processing circuitry is configurable to:
translate the virtual memory address to a physical memory address within a cache memory; and
issue an instruction to the cache memory to execute the memory management operation at the physical memory address.
18 . The system of claim 17 , further comprising receiving a response to the instruction,
wherein the response is formatted based on the memory management operation, and
wherein the response is formatted based on the interface that received the memory management command.
19 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the processing circuitry is configurable to:
receive configuration information defining the trigger event and including an indication of the interface; and
receive a memory access command via the interface to perform a memory operation.
20 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the interface is coupled to a memory mapped register, or the interface includes a shared messaging interface.
