Abstract

Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for wireless communications. A first base station may send, to a second base station, a request for a resource status. The first base station may receive, from the second base station, information regarding available capacity associated with a network slice.

Claims (120)

1 . A method comprising:

sending, by a first base station to a second base station, a request for a resource status associated with a network slice; and

receiving, by the first base station from the second base station based on the request, an indication of available capacity associated with the network slice.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the request comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell; or

a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the indication.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice comprises:

receiving, by the first base station from the second base station, a resource status message comprising the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, and

wherein the resource status message further indicates at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell;

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

an information element indicating that a traffic load of one or more slices exceeds a threshold;

a slice reject cause value;

a handover reject cause value; or

a multi-connectivity reject cause value.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the first base station from the second base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sending, by the first base station to the second base station, a handover request message indicating the network slice.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the sending the handover request message comprises:

determining, by the first base station based on the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, that the available capacity associated with the network slice is sufficient, on a cell of the second base station, for a wireless device.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the handover request message comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a wireless device identifier of a wireless device;

a network slice identifier of the network slice; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the network slice.

8 . A method comprising:

receiving, by a second base station from a first base station, a request for a resource status associated with a network slice; and

sending, by the second base station to the first base station based on the request, an indication of available capacity associated with the network slice.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the request comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell; or

a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the indication.

10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the sending the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice comprises:

sending, by the second base station to the first base station, a resource status message comprising the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, and

wherein the resource status message further indicates at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell;

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

an information element indicating that a traffic load of one or more slices exceeds a threshold;

a slice reject cause value;

a handover reject cause value; or

a multi-connectivity reject cause value.

11 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

sending, by the second base station to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated.

12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

receiving, by the second base station from the first base station, a handover request message indicating the network slice.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the handover request message comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a wireless device identifier of a wireless device;

a network slice identifier of the network slice; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the network slice.

14 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

after a handover of a wireless device from the first base station to the second base station, communicating, by the second base station, with the wireless device via the network slice.

15 . A first base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the first base station to:

send, to a second base station, a request for a resource status associated with a network slice; and

receive, from the second base station based on the request, an indication of available capacity associated with the network slice.

16 . The first base station of claim 15 , wherein the request comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell; or

a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the indication.

17 . The first base station of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the first base station to receive the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice by:

receiving, from the second base station, a resource status message comprising the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, and

wherein the resource status message further indicates at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell;

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

an information element indicating that a traffic load of one or more slices exceeds a threshold;

a slice reject cause value;

a handover reject cause value; or

a multi-connectivity reject cause value.

18 . The first base station of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further configure the first base station to:

receive, from the second base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated.

19 . The first base station of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further configure the first base station to:

send, to the second base station, a handover request message indicating the network slice.

20 . The first base station of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the first base station to send the handover request message by:

determining, based on the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, that the available capacity associated with the network slice is sufficient, on a cell of the second base station, for a wireless device.

21 . The first base station of claim 19 , wherein the handover request message comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a wireless device identifier of a wireless device;

a network slice identifier of the network slice; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the network slice.

22 . A second base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the second base station to:

receive, from a first base station, a request for a resource status associated with a network slice; and

send, to the first base station based on the request, an indication of available capacity associated with the network slice.

23 . The second base station of claim 22 , wherein the request comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell; or

a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the indication.

24 . The second base station of claim 22 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the second base station to send the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice by:

sending, to the first base station, a resource status message comprising the indication of the available capacity associated with the network slice, and

wherein the resource status message further indicates at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a network slice identifier of the network slice, wherein the network slice is associated with the cell;

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

an information element indicating that a traffic load of one or more slices exceeds a threshold;

a slice reject cause value;

a handover reject cause value; or

a multi-connectivity reject cause value.

25 . The second base station of claim 22 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further configure the second base station to:

send, to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated.

26 . The second base station of claim 22 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further configure the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, a handover request message indicating the network slice.

27 . The second base station of claim 26 , wherein the handover request message comprises at least one of:

a cell identifier of a cell of the second base station;

a wireless device identifier of a wireless device;

a network slice identifier of the network slice; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the network slice.

28 . The second base station of claim 22 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further configure the second base station to:

after a handover of a wireless device from the first base station to the second base station, communicate with the wireless device via the network slice.
