Methods of operating an adjustment mechanism for a roller scraper
A method for setting a pressure profile of a scratching mechanism having a plurality of rollers positioned in series and configured to exert pressure on input media, the method comprising: for each roller of the plurality of rollers: setting a first respective vertical position of a first end of the roller by rotating a rotating member of a first respective adjustment mechanism operatively connected to the first end of the roller; and setting a second respective vertical position of a second end of the roller by rotating a rotating member of a second respective adjustment mechanism operatively connected to the second end of the roller; wherein: the first and second vertical positions for each roller are different, such that the plurality of rollers have different pressure profiles; and the scratching mechanism further includes a respective scraping roller in cooperation with each roller.
1 . A method for setting a pressure profile of a scratching mechanism having a plurality of rollers positioned in series and configured to exert pressure on input media, the method comprising:
for each roller of the plurality of rollers:
setting a first respective vertical position of a first end of the roller by rotating a rotating member of a first respective adjustment mechanism operatively connected to the first end of the roller; and
setting a second respective vertical position of a second end of the roller by rotating a rotating member of a second respective adjustment mechanism operatively connected to the second end of the roller;
wherein:
the first and second vertical positions for each roller are different, such that the plurality of rollers have different pressure profiles;
the scratching mechanism further includes a respective scraping roller in cooperation with each roller; and
the different pressure profiles of the plurality of rollers configure the respective scraping rollers to scrape different portions of the input media.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, the first respective adjustment mechanism and second respective adjustment mechanism further include:
a vertically movable member connected to a respective end of the roller; and
a stationary member configured to convert rotation of the rotating member into vertical motion of the vertically movable member.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of rollers includes three rollers.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein rotating the rotating member of the first respective adjustment mechanism includes electronically operating an actuator operatively connected to the rotating member.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein rotating the rotating member of the first respective adjustment mechanism includes turning a knob that is rotationally indexed to different vertical positions of the roller.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the knob of each adjustment mechanism further includes an indication of one or more preset positions corresponding to one or more different input media types.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the setting of the first and second respective vertical positions of the rollers is performed based on feedback from one or more motors driving one or more of the respective scraping rollers.
