Abstract

An external ear canal pressure regulation device including a fluid flow generator and an earpiece having a first axial earpiece conduit fluidically coupled to the fluid flow generator, whereby the earpiece has a compliant earpiece external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure.

Claims (31)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A fluid transfer system for treatment of a neurological disorder, the fluid transfer system comprising:

an external ear canal pressure device comprising:

an earpiece; and

a fluid flow generator being configured to generate a fluid flow between the earpiece and an external ear canal; and

a computer device being discrete from the external ear canal pressure device and being configured to control the external ear canal pressure device.

3 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , wherein the computer device comprises a hand-held device.

4 . The fluid transfer system of claim 3 , wherein the hand-held device comprises a smart phone.

5 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , wherein the computer device comprises a graphical user interface being configured to receive a user input.

6 . The fluid transfer system of claim 5 , wherein the user input comprises at least one of a pressure regulation profile and a temperature regulation profile.

7 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , wherein the computer device is configured to wireless communicate with the external ear canal pressure device.

8 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of computer devices.

9 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , wherein the computer device comprises a graphical user interface being configured to display a symptom ranking element for receiving user input of a symptom rank value.

10 . The fluid transfer system of claim 2 , wherein the external ear canal pressure device is configured to create a negative pressure differential with an external ear canal pressure lower than an ambient pressure.

11 . A method for treatment of a symptom of a neurological disorder, the method comprising:

engaging a first external ear canal of an ear of a user with an earpiece of an external ear canal pressure device;

receiving user input from a user interface on a computer device that is discrete from the external ear canal pressure device and being configured to control the external ear canal pressure device;

generating signals based on the user input and wirelessly sending the signals from the computer device to the external ear canal pressure device; and

controlling a fluid flow generator of the external ear canal pressure device based at least in part on the signals received wirelessly from the computer device to produce a pressure differential between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the computer device comprises a hand-held device

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the computer device comprises a smart phone.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the computer device comprises a graphical user interface being configured to receive a user input.

15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the user input comprises at least one of a pressure regulation profile and a temperature regulation profile.

16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the computer device comprises a graphical user interface being configured to display a symptom ranking element for receiving user input of a symptom rank value.

17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the external ear canal pressure device is configured to create a negative pressure differential with an external ear canal pressure lower than an ambient pressure.

18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the symptom is a headache.

19 . An external ear canal pressure device for treatment of a neurological disorder, the device comprising:

an earpiece;

a fluid flow generator being configured to generate a fluid flow between the earpiece and an external ear canal; and

a transceiver capable of wireless communication with a computer device that is discrete from the external ear canal pressure device and that is configured to control the external ear canal pressure device;

20 . The device of claim 19 , wherein the fluid flow generator is configured to create a negative pressure differential with an external ear canal pressure lower than an ambient pressure.
