Abstract

A sensing and display apparatus, comprising: a first phenomenon interface configured to operatively interface with a first augmediated-reality space, and a second phenomenon interface configured to operatively interface with a second augmediated-reality space, is implemented as an extramissive spatial imaging digital eye glass.

Claims (46)

1 . An apparatus comprising:

at least one display;

at least one memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and configured to:

output, for display on the at least one display, a first virtual icon in an augmented reality space, wherein the first virtual icon represents a first software application;

obtain eye tracking information associated with a user of the apparatus;

detect, from first image data, a first hand gesture corresponding to a setting selection associated with output of a virtual line; and

execute a first operation in response to the first hand gesture, wherein the first operation includes outputting, for display on the at least one display, the virtual line between a hand of the user and the first virtual icon.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

output, for display on the at least one display, a second virtual icon, wherein the second virtual icon represents a second software application;

visually modify, based on the eye tracking information, the second virtual icon;

detect, from second image data, a second hand gesture; and

execute a second operation in response to the second hand gesture, wherein the second operation is different from the first operation.

3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the second operation includes launching the second software application.

4 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the second operation comprises moving a position of the second virtual icon from a first position relative to the display to a second position relative to the display.

5 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the second operation comprises causing a virtual menu of the second software application to be scrolled.

6 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the second hand gesture includes physical contact between an index finger and a thumb of a hand of the user.

7 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein, to visually modify the second virtual icon, the at least one processor is configured to focus the second virtual icon.

8 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein, to visually modify the second virtual icon, the at least one processor is configured to highlight the second virtual icon.

9 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein, to visually modify the second virtual icon, the at least one processor is configured to move a location of the second virtual icon.

10 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

determine a first position of a hand of the user based on the second image data;

determine a second position of the hand based on the second image data, wherein the second position is different than the first position; and

update a position of the second virtual icon based on the second position of the hand.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

determine a third position of a hand of the user, wherein the third position is different than the second position; and

visually deemphasize the second virtual icon based on the third position of the hand.

12 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the second hand gesture is a pinch gesture, and wherein the first hand gesture is a pinch gesture.

13 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

render virtual content associated with the augmented reality space; and

composite image data from one or more image sensors with the virtual content.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the virtual content associated with the augmented reality space includes a plurality of virtual icons representing a plurality of software applications.

15 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the augmented reality space includes a virtual reality space.

16 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is a head-mounted device.

17 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is part of a head-mounted device.

18 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising at least one camera configured to capture the first image data.

19 . A method comprising:

displaying, on at least one display of a device, a first virtual icon in an augmented reality space, wherein the first virtual icon represents a first software application;

obtaining eye tracking information associated with a user of the device;

detecting, from first image data, a first hand gesture corresponding to a setting selection associated with output of a virtual line; and

executing a first operation in response to the first hand gesture, wherein the first operation includes outputting, for display on the at least one display, the virtual line between a hand of the user and the first virtual icon.

20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising:

displaying, on the at least one display, a second virtual icon, wherein the second virtual icon represents a second software application;

visually modifying, based on the eye tracking information, the second virtual icon;

detecting, from second image data, a second hand gesture; and

executing a second operation in response to the second hand gesture, wherein the second operation is different from the first operation.
